Agreed! I don't like the state of that pitch, so I'm happy to see him off the field with the goal. Loved the hug and chat Jessie gave him coming off the field to encourage. In other news, looks like Weston Mckinnie is joining Leeds on loan from Juve. Leeds can play the US national team midfield left to right!
A deserved goal for @Sinisterra29 🇨🇴#EmiratesFACup pic.twitter.com/LzPsVDWnDW— Emirates FA Cup (@EmiratesFACup) January 28, 2023
His highlights. He should have passed during a golden chance for them at one point but he got a goal in the end.
I mean, come on! Que si, que no.... The post is still shaking 😬But did @SavinToby of @ASFCofficial get a touch? 😲#EmiratesFACup pic.twitter.com/OjYJHrKeIj— Emirates FA Cup (@EmiratesFACup) January 28, 2023
Super bitter game for Sini today. Had a gorgeous move in the first two minutes that Keilor saved miraculously. Mid first half had a great chance but he skied it (I think the Forest defender got his tackle in and it bounced on Luis, he never misses those). He was absolutely victimized by the commentators for his miss (despite Navas stopping I don't know how many 1 on 1s and Bamford looking like he was playing through indigestion) and subbed off early in the second half. I thought he looked really sharp on the ball and created a few great chances via pressing. Lame.
Agreed. Him and Gnonto were very active and created problems for Forest’s defense, but Keylor was superb. Once Sinisterra was subbed, Leeds attack diluted and barely created any danger for Navas.
Sini seems to have his head on straight. He probably will just brush this performance off his shoulders and start putting them away. Hopefully soon.
He did everything right in that first chance and that is a really, really difficult skill to place it going the opposite direction but Keylor made a great save reading that, most goalies don't I think. The second chance you can see the defender pushed him off making it really difficult to finish. Overall with Gnonto and Sini I think they've got great wide forwards and in time I think this team will be solid. Sini always gets into good positions to score, the goals will flow if he can stay healthy.
#LUFC can confirm head coach Jesse Marsch has been relieved of his duties— Leeds United (@LUFC) February 6, 2023
That would be a decent appointment, or honestly get Bielsa back. Hopefully the new manager appreciates Sinisterra like Marsch did. Honestly if Sini was healthy more this season decent chance he's not fired.
I think it's a bit rushed by Leeds and shows incoherence. They just signed Marsh Rutter (club record signing) and have half the US national team in place. I hope whoever comes in likes American players! Seems harsh to me because despite the recent run of results, they absolutely have a clear idea of play and create a lot of chances - they've just suffered because both Sini and Rodrigo have been hurt and Bamford has the yips. If Bamford were within a mile of his potential they would comfortably be safe.
True to an extent, but Marsch has been in the hot seat for a while, and they were not supposed to lose to their direct rivals in the relegation zone. Also, they have a very good roster that has not lived up to their potential (yes, injuries and poor performances by some players are a big part of it) and in this type of situations, it is a lot easier to go with a coach that scrapes points than with one that's trying to build a system. All in all, the EPL is very unforgiving and I guess that Leeds' board and fans are more interested in staying in the top division than playing beautiful football.
haha yea man I rather play ugly and win titles... no one remembers how shitty a team played. Italy was almost laughably bad their last WC win..... and ton of questionable calls yet they still won and thats all peopel remember. to the same extent Argentina this World Cup and 2014 when they played like crap got all the calls their way and made it to the final. Even that Germany wasn't that strong other than the game Brazil imploded. Germany barely beat the US and tied Ghana..... People love our hot potato football but if that Quinoes guy got us playing like Paraguay or Uruguay, Italy winning 1-0 on a counter attack while defending most the game sure.... we'd all love him
Leeds molded that team for Marsch and the results weren't great, but the underlying expected points put them mid table, they've been short at striker with Bamford basically out most of the season and Rodrigo on and off. It's not just about playing pretty, the margins are super thin and a few things break the wrong way and you are all of a sudden in a relegation battle. They were the better team against Nottingham, they scored a crazy goal and Leeds couldn't put one a way and that's all she wrote. Leeds also sacked Bielsa late last season and were lucky to survive under Marsch, overall I think they are too knee jerky and the style these guys play will have a lot of variance and although they brought in good players they sold their two best players in a season they barely survived relegation and had a lot of new players that need to mold quickly and I think they were on the right track imo.
He's doesn't get injured frequently, but he missed several months after he broke for Feyenoord. This is not good. Him and Diaz.
These players need to take care of themselves to minimize the possibility of injuries. Fitness is very essential long term.
