That would be too hilarious. Leeds fans think Jesse wasn’t qualified to coach their “historic, massive” club, imagine having a coach who was coaching women five years ago. I NEED it to happen.
Also since it's bound to come up. Marsch for MNT? Yes, in 2023/24 as interim...sign someone better when available to lead our guys through 2026. He knows how to get guys creating multiple scoring chances per match. Our defenders are better than what he's had at Leeds so I'm not terribly worried about that end of the field. Only downside is...USSF is too incompetent to realize he'd need replacing so, no, I don't want him hired.
again, I don’t necessarily blame Leeds for firing Jesse as much as I just despise Leeds fans. Never seen a fan group less welcoming to new fans. As far as Jesse goes, much of what you said is valid, but a few missed sitters from Bamford, Sinisterra, Harrison, and a few less defensive f*** ups from their championship level defense, and the entire narrative of this season is different. End of the day, he put them in a lot of positions to get enough points, and the players didn’t execute. Yes he was inflexible, but for what he was working with for most of his tenure, what else could he do?
Of the current rumors, it feels like the least likely and most funny possible outcome... but man, what a sight it would be!
Yeah as nominally welcoming as they were to players like Adams and Aaronson they have a deeeeep hatred of american fans hoping to join the club support. I don't get it. I also found it hilarious for them to target Lalas, who for once was right, saying Wes was better than Leeds. They seriously believe that they are bigger/better/more respected than Juve! I gave up talking to anybody that's too deluded to acknowledge facts.
Be more tactically flexible and allow his team's play to be more expansive rather than try to ram everything through the middle. Leeds have enough talent to stay up if they can get a manager to allow for more variety in attack and adjust to opponents.
Agreed 100%. I also don’t get the love for Bielsa… yes he took them up, but other than the one season in ninth, they were awful in the EPL under him. Pretty sure their GD was like -30 when Jesse took over last season. Yet Jesse somehow got no credit for keeping that team up, and is apparently doing way worse than Bielsa last season, despite a GD of only -8. Retrospectively, it was probably not a good job for Jesse to take at the time. The blame was always gonna be on him if they went down, with no credit if they stayed up. Always tough to follow a club legend.
They have enough talent now, after signing Rutter, Wober, and McKennie. I’d argue they didn’t before. Before January, they didn’t invest a single dime above what they received for Raphina and Kalvin.
They really don't need that much more to change in attack. Finish the chances! Every other phase of the match gets easier if they simply put the ball in the net. Creating opportunities hasn't been their problem. Finishing and set piece defending have both been below PL standard so their ranking in the table is deserved
I honestly don’t know this for sure, but I have a strong feeling that the final nail in Jesse’s coffin was the news of him assigning “The Redeem Team” as homework. Just way too Ted Lasso-y for British sensibilities: Jesse Marsch loves redemption, but his Leeds story is heading in a different direction https://theathletic.com/4156980/202...forest/?source=freedailyemail&campaign=601983
The fans opinion does matter in Europe. And they want a total de-Yankification of their club. Even Adams is going to have to perform top notch not to lose his place.
God I hope this is true (but I don't think it is). Tyler is literally in the 90th percentile for most successful defensive actions among PL midfielders. Benching him would lead to HILARIOUS results, but, hey, at least the fans would be placated when both he and Weston leave the club post-relegation for bigger and better things. "But his passing isn't positive enough" isn't a valid criticism when your team is just bleeding goals left and right... Adams is by far the best thing that Marsch brought to Leeds. Gnoto has been quite good, but Adams has been astounding, and the only people who disagree with that are self-hating Yanks and truly stupid Leeds supporters.
I'm sad about this. Losing to Forest follows the pattern of playing worse against the weaker teams. It should have been expected. I was really looking forward to the ManU matches - I actually thought they'd play up and get at least three points out of them. They still might since Armas is unlikely to change much. And I agree with Dizi - the biggest problem was finishing. Finish a few more chances here and there, and Marsch would still be the coach. I can see how some of the defensive issues could be blamed on him and his system, but the finishing... seems like that is more down to the players.
Yet some some of those same fans are clamoring for Dan James & Joffy to return. I'm not sure I trust even the nice things they say about Adams
Hahah “Joffy” is up there with BamFRAUD, Harrison, Cooper, and Ayling as far as Championship Level players who put in about 50% effort from the time Marsch came in to the time he was sacked, yet still seem to be adored by most Leeds fans. Bamford alone has cost them enough points this year that you could almost say he single-handedly got Jesse sacked. for those that don’t know, “Joffy” is Joe Gelhardt. Leeds fans will claim Jesse never gave him a fair chance, but in reality, he almost never did anything positive any time he was brought on. Gnonto is younger, better, and actually performed for the club.
Not likely. The u-21 coach is doing the pre-match pressers, Armas likely just retained briefly until the Man U matches are over, due to his familiarity with their squad. Very little chance he is actually the shot caller as far as the three interim coaches go…. Fans wouldn’t accept it. And I don’t see any chance in hell of him being retained by a new manager.
I had a brief thought today that maybe Armas was brought in *because* he knew Man U so well and because Marsch and Co maybe knew a bad result against Forest would cost him his job. Would be an amazing little piece of foresight. Likely impossible, but potentially amazing. And if they win that game???? Armas looks the part as a number 2 (they often seem to be bald and thuggish) and perhaps that's his coaching destiny
Well, to say otherwise would be wild. He had an insane flick last game. No one else at that club is touching him.
So he lasted just nearly a year. Bob Bradley lasted only two months so congrats to Jesse there. When are we likely to see another Yank manage in the PL?
Not sure where you're getting this from. I haven't heard or read of any fans clamoring for those two to return. The most common impression people have of James is that his feet are too fast for his brain and there is no way he was worth what Leeds paid for him. As for Joffy, most seem to think he needs time at Sunderland to get playing time and experience.
