What has Conte won as a manager? What is his CL record? How long has he lasted at any one team as manager? so…to answer your question…both…or “yes” Does that mean Klopp will beat his team every time they play? No, but I believe Klopp is a level, or more better than Conte as a manager What do you think?
Chicksaw, I also don't think you've been a WUM so far, but you have to admit that anyone who posts here is not just a casual LFC fan. Are you aware of the history of LFC? Do you understand why we think Klopp is an almost untouchable manager? If not, PM me and I can fill you in.
I have been following football since 1961 so yes, I do understand the history of Liverpool F.C. But this is a public forum isn't it and I will repeat my post is NOT a criticism of JK. I mentioned another manager who is on a similar level to Klopp and I'm merely posting an observation. My posts are NEVER intended to provoke. I wish football supporters wouldn't be so sensitive. I haven't insulted him or Liverpool and I won't. I am not a hostile follower of football and hate no team at all. I am a Spurs supporter but I think your situation at the moment just bears a little scrutiny..............that's all.
He won the league with Chelsea How many trophies has Antonio Conte won? The Italian manager has won nine major trophies which include one Premier League, one FA Cup, four Série A, two Supercoppa Italiana and one Série B.21 Dec 2021
Klopp has won six major trophies since his appointment on October 8, 2015 – the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League, Carabao Cup and Emirates FA Cup.8 Oct 2022 Also copied from Wiki. I put them both on an equal standing.
Champions League puts Klopp above - slightly. And Klopp has made 4 CL finals - which would be 4 more than Conte has ever reached. Yes - he's lost 3 of them for what it's worth.
Not sure which thread this belongs in - but in shocking news to everyone I'm sure - Carragher has stuck the boot in absolving the owners of blame and blaming Klopp instead. yes the same Carragher that was blaming the owners after the Brentford game. maybe he can politic to get Roy Hodgson appointed ... again
Interesting that this respectful Spurs fan has chosen now to engage us in a protracted discussion of whether Klopp can "turn it around". To me, discussion of whether Klopp can "turn things around" is laughable. He hasn't done it before, true, but the cause of the current drop in the team's trajectory is clearly the result of the owners' abdicating their responsibility to reinvest adequately in players given Klopp's high energy style of play. A style of play that moved Liverpool to the top but which requires unremitting effort from players - who will predictably need to be replaced sooner. In my view Klopp didn't cause this and any turnaround is going to be far more dependent upon adequate reinvestment than any significant change in Klopp's approach. I'll tag him with excessive player loyalty but beyond that its on the owners.
I'm broaching the subject after the defeat to Wolves as I was surprised by the score line. What's laughable about it? You're clearly offended and I can't see why. But, ok, I'll drop the subject and apologise for any offence caused.
The "laughable" comment was not directed at you, rather at the discussion in general. I'm not offended, rather frustrated by what I see as people missing the obvious here - Klopp's style produces results but requires aggressive player reinvestment over the longer term. But I may be wrong of course, just my opinion.
Good Info. Since October 2015 - Conte has coached the Italian National team, two seasons at Chel$ea, two seasons an Inter and two seasons at Spurs. Maybe its just a differing of opinion, but I value Klopp's longevity with a single club and the titles he's won over Conte's multiple appointments (although they are all relatively good appointments)...I also value the Champion's League runs over most of what Conte has done - and I think anyone managing Chel$ea during the Abromovich era was essentially handed a strong team and a seemingly unlimited amount of spending to do what they wanted, something Klopp does not have at LFC... So yeah - Conte is certainly a good manager and has had success over the last eight years, but if I had to pick one to manage the team I support, it'd be Klopp - 100%.
By the way - Your team has found a way to play against ManCity that is quite effective - at home anyway! Congrats on the 1-0 win yesterday!
Departing Liverpool data head who recommended Jürgen Klopp has already settled FSG ‘sack’ truth - Liverpool.com I had forgotten about that analysis that concluded Klopp's Dortmund slump was objectively due to bad luck more than anything else.
this conveniently leaves out that LVanGaal is / was a great manager. Klopp has been hit by a blitz of injuries and a draining WC mid season. No-one else would be doing any better, IMO..... If he can get the team to focus as it did for 25 mins 2nd half the other day (until conceding the third in a tight breakaway - and game-breaking - situation) Liverpool will be fine. I'd prefer to see us start games in that manner, instead of this being defensively fearful of giving up early goals ...
I think things are looking a bit better than they were after Brighton 3-4 wks ago. Those two mistakes against Wolves any team could have made. (City did it recently before Riyadh mahrez put on a 2nd half show.) This time the team was able to assert itself and dominate the first half hour of the 2nd half. That (particularly that) - the final result aside - has been what's been missing. Maybe that was the start of its coming back.
Sample size bias. He’s had one seven year problem at Borussia, and before that was hired away from Mainz, not because they were in trouble, but because he’d been so successful that he was recruited to a much bigger team. There is no “there” there.
Ward replacement? Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell to leave club amid Liverpool links - Liverpool Echo
I wonder if the reason we made no moves in January is because there is literally nobody working for the club. Julian Ward was securing his new job with Ajax. How could we recruit the right midfielder when the entire staff whose job it was to do that either left or have one foot out the door. Apparently Gakpo was a player that Pep Lijnders really liked. It’s not ideal when an assistant coach is scouting potential signings, but maybe that was the only way to get a player. So yes, I’m in favor of hiring a sporting director. Can he start now so we can start planning out the summer?
hard to plan anything while the sale is hanging over everything. nobody knows what - if any (!!!) - transfer funds could be available.
Tonight was Jürgen Klopp's 250th win as Liverpool manager in all competitions. It was his 414th game in charge of the Reds, reaching the milestone win quicker than any of the previous three managers to do so for the club (Paisley 448, Shankly 472 and Watson 539).
