I think he is more talented than Buchanan. For me, Buchanan is kind of like Weah in that both are solid pros, but more successful with their national teams than at club level.
Gotta wonder how different things would look if they had followed similar development pathways. Buchanan joined a USSDA club at 15, played 2 years at Syracuse, and made his pro debut at 20. Paredes joined D.C. at 13, signed his first pro deal at 16, and already has 3,000 pro minutes before turning 20.

Was only half paying attention but didn’t see him do anything special today. Was maybe partly to blame for Bayern’s 4th goal. Can’t make the highlight reel every week though.
How is he partly to blame for ushering Musiala central to 5 Wolfsburg defenders, all of whom he beat? It's KP's job to cover the space on the wing, not to chase a guy centrally to where he has a ton of help. He was pretty good. Comes in on the front foot all the time off the bench. Was one of the sparks to what could have been a chance for a big comeback, but they had a goal ruled off that killed their hopes. Paredes did a good job of getting crosses over the onrushing Bayern defenders, including one across the goal mouth his teammate missed again (though not as bad as last league match). Funnest player to watch in the pool. He plays w/ so much joy, & so little fear. Can't wait to see those stints extended to full matches.
His stint yesterday is the first time I have watched of him live for club in a little bit. He looks to me like he is still trying to find his sea legs somewhat. Understandably, playing nicely within the context of the game but doesn't seem to try sh@t too often at this point with Wolfsburg. I'm sure that will come as he gets more comfortable because he is a really good dribbler from what I have seen of him in the past. He also served in some wicked looking crosses into the box. Not something we have an abundance of in the pool and nice to see.
Between him and booth we have two that both put in fantastic crosses. In other games he tried stuff, didn’t see this one.
I like both of these players a lot. Booth is #10 at a good club in the Netherlands so one could argue that he has "made it". He has to be a given for the USMNT in the summer (he and Tillman). I thought the move to Wolfsburg was a bad one for Paredes in that he could have used another season in the MLS... but he appears to be subbing in on the regular this season. So close to starting for either Wolfsburg or another team on loan next year. He should be the "poster child" for the U20 WC and Olympic Squads... but perhaps he is ready for the big boys? Really love his game. As Duke said... he plays with no fear. A total joy to watch.
Fair point on the goal. Maybe I’m expecting too much after seeing what he did in the previous couple games. He’s also playing against better talent. I feel like after his 2nd game in a row as a sub he deserted to start this past game. I definitely missed his cross that could have resulted in a goal.

He had an amazing run and cross that started from his own half that the guy he crossed it to botched but could have been a goal. Played too far advance like a dual forward. It’s like he’s becoming McKennie but at Wolfsburg.
I was watching the Dike game at the same time, and Paredes was hardly involved in this game. almost an MIA performance.
But when he was involved, he was highly creative & efficient. He played a role like Weah w/ the national team. High, weakside runner into space. Tim isn't evolved for lengthy stretches either. If Paredes played on their strongside, the left, like it is on the nat'l team where the overloads occur, and he had in prior games, he'd have been a lot more involved. Also, Wolfsburg's right back Baku has horrible chemistry w/ KP. Looks off him a lot for some higher degree of difficulty, senseless pass. The lack of touches didn't have much to do w/ anything KP was doing. For others, here was his great counter move after a corner against: WHAT A CROSS from Kevin Paredes 👌 Poor touch in front of goal by his teammate… 🤦♂️ (@USMNTZ) #USMNT 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/FCASyCmDjJ— 🇺🇸 USMNTvsHaters (@USMNTvsHaters) February 10, 2023
Actually, Weah does a lot. He runs back and helps out the defense. I like Paredes, I just didn't catch him doing much. In his previous game he was more involved.
'lack of touches' - yes, and I have to say his off the ball performance was actually fun to watch. We will not see a 'no touches video', I'm sure. He marked the opposing fullback on defense well. He helped his full back trap the opposing winger. He pressed the opposing goal keeper. Really good stuff. Props to his manager at Wolfsburg.
Super sic pass.... threading the needle like that at a full sprint. Also... that was his non-dominant right foot.
He is ill. Apparently there's a bug going around the team. His main competition, Kaminski, is also out for the same reason. 1626712867809656834 is not a valid tweet id
"He also seems to have grown a significant amount physically, last measured at 5 foot 6 inches tall, the American may have gained an inch or two since the season began." holy shit how did we miss this
Got about 10min as a sub as Wolfsburg tried to protect a 2-0 lead. Was at fault for what was nearly a goal 1min after coming on, although the pass played into the attacker was great. Otherwise he did fine.
