He was I'm afraid. Then again, so was the entire team and it's part of a pattern since league play resumed. Before the WC break Leeds's Goals per game ratio was 1.57 but now it's 0.67. Their XG was used to be 1.5 and now it's 1.04 - and 0.21 for the second half today. As for their shot conversion ratio, it's halved from 12% to 6%. Wober has tightened the defence, certainly, but they've got to start scoring.
this squad looks like they don't actually believe they will score. Can see it on their faces ... and no matter who they play that opponent always senses they will finish whatever chance they get. Beyond Jesse's energy on the sideline (which is admirable) I don't think his approach provides confidence that LUFC will stay up. They have some good players - Jesse is just not the answer and the sooner they change him out the better.
It sure seems like Jesse has run his course there. They play too well to have this point total. It is a serial theme now that they outplay their opponents only to lose because their opponent scores a banger. They are one of the most frustrating teams around right now. They actually remind me of the Chargers in the NFL. Finding ways to lose games. A new manager could give them the bump they need. Jesse only has one game plan and if it doesn't work then they are done.
The Forest game today was a must win. It’s all up in the air now. Maybe the McKennie signing will come good but I’m failing to see what kind impact he’ll have taking Roca out… Roca hasn’t been the issue. That’s clear to me anyway.
They still have a game in hand against the bottom 3 so maybe not a must-win but it sure was a missed opportunity to start climbing out of the bottom. A draw would have been something too... but the way they lost? Again? Damn.
I listen to the Leeds and other reporters they bring on SiriusXM. This game has been a pretty unanimous stress point. The margin for error is dwindling quick. I won’t pretend to be an expert but not going to ignore the folks that are.
If McKennie is gonna work I think it’s gotta be in a three man midfield with roca and Adams not in place of roca though I get why that was the change that was made.
If McKennie is gonna work he better start hitting the gym, stop eating pizza, and try to focus on the game instead of thinking about who knows what.
He’s been a role player in a super talented Italian squad with lots of possession. That’s not what’s going to happen here. So, totally agree, he better be ready to run his ass off. The extra weight will lose itself.
It's all been "up in the air" for a bit now, but Everton beating Arsenal while Leeds get 0 certainly sends the trajectory higher. Jesse will have his work cut out for him keeping the lockerroom positive thru the two ManU games so they can bring it to Everton. From a math(s) standpoint, it still leans Leeds, but if Everton's "new coach bounce" leads to them beating Leeds, things get very dicey. Jesse et al have to hope Pool does a number on their local friends next weekend.
They have to stack McKennie Roca Adams for it to make any sense. And then the surplus of wingers will confound basically anyone who actually pays attention.
Difficult to carry extra weight around in thr Prem. Lots of adjusrments for him to make during this short loan.
Well,he carried an Old Lady around on his back for two years, how hard can a extra pie or ten be? /s ...unless?
A three player MF is the way to go and I think that perhaps it’s a 4-3-3 but will end up being a 1-2 with Adams playing behind Roca and McKennie. The problem is, is that there isn’t a good linkage right now up front to reverse direction when the overloading one side isn’t on. But by god Harrison Gnoto, and Firpo or Strujik will bore us to death playing cute passes around to no avail. The MF led more advanced linkages will allow the forwards and wingers to play higher up the pitch where all the crazy cause confusion and overloading might actually work. some terrible and deft touches yesterday was the difference between 0-1 and 2-1.
Holy ~@**! The news on Man City breaking FFP rules over 100 times is just more evidence that this could be the strangest EPL season in recent memory. How many points will they lose? Sources also say they could be auto-relegated... or even expelled from the league! WTF? Expelled? What does that even mean? Like dissolved? Why post this here? If Man City does get relegated then it may save Leeds if they finish 18th.
https://www.goal.com/en-in/news/jesse-marsch-sacked-leeds-part-ways-manager/blt1b31e69500c33180 The new manager boost might make a difference IMO. As I wrote earlier... the team is too talented to be this far back in the standings. RBL was snake-bit under Jesse and turned it wround quickly under Tedesco. Perhaps another manager will get the most out of them down the stretch? We shall see.
