Yes, I’ve been thinking that too. His overall game is a bit different based on what I’ve seen - Booth is more of a dribbler and I don’t think he has the speed/acceleration of Donovan. Also, Booth appears a bit more stout, for whatever that’s worth. But his Donovan-esque passing - perfectly timed and placed leading passes that put players in on goal or that break the defensive line - is something we’ve been lacking. I think he might be more of the offensive player we thought Aaronson would be, although we’ll see if Booth’s talent translates at a higher level, and I haven’t given up on Arronson.
I don’t dispute that they are all good passers, but I don’t believe DLT is creative on the same level as Donovan (or Booth). His assist the other day was incredible and if he can do that more consistently I’ll be happy to be proven wrong. I haven’t seen enough of Mihalovic to have a strong opinion, but I agree he’s good. Regardless, my point wasn’t that there aren’t any other “good” passers, more that Booth’s abilities remind me of Donovan, which was a level or two above good.
Well, Luca's assist the game before was also pretty great, actually. But you're right in that he's not that type of player - he and Musah are our two middle-of-the-field/two-way players generally speaking. They've both got some nice offensive flair to their games, but it's not their primary/only role.
I do concede that there are other US players who are good passers and have in the recent past made nice passes, including assists. May they continue to do so in ever-increasing quantities in the future! However, this doesn’t change my current opinion that Booth is the player whose passing abilities remind me most of Donovan.
I have not seen him play centrally for Utrecht in their 4-3-3. I've seen him on the L and R. I liked how he played with Klaiber last time I watched - on the Right - but I think he's scored once or twice while on the left... He looks like a pretty good all around B2B to me who can play wide or tucked in a bit.

Didn't see it, but Utrecht went up 1-0 at about 58, AZ fought back to tie around 83 but then Utrecht snatched it in OT/ET. Booth came out at 90 and his sub scored the winner, fwiw.
Booth and Carleton were on the same u17 team with Weah and Sarge. Booth was a year younger than Carleton.
I think Reyna is better than all three (well, the ladder to, as I haven’t seen as much of both) at seeing and making those passes.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda. You know damn well an uncapped player wasn’t going to be call into the WC squad. But yeah…. I would have called him in earlier. I fully expect him to be called up in March. Criminal if he isn’t.
How a player from Utrecht wins best player in Holland I'll never know... (and yes, I'll keep doing this till you mooks get it right, already...)
