At a stretch, maybe an Italian team would take a punt on him. I don't think their media environment is the same as ours.
James back. Sterling and Chilwell on the bench. Might see Madueke tonight as well. Come on Chelsea! ✌️@ParimatchGlobal | #CheFul pic.twitter.com/tDLahmY7BS— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) February 3, 2023
now we've finally got a right winger Maddison is back to the 10 position which means Dewsbury-Hall is back to his 6/8 role and getting to show off his range of passing, the switch ball out to Barnes for the second goal was a thing of beauty
The news from City will be interesting from an England perspective. If proven its difficult to see anything but relegation (possibly multiple) being a appropriate punishment which will certainly leave some of our players in interesting positions.
Maybe it will, but it is far from over. There will be protracted legal battles, with no decision on the case likely for years.
I think he would have played but he probably wasn’t fit enough. I think it speaks for itself that Southgate took a chance on him not knowing if he was fit enough.
if Maddison really wasn't fit then he shouldn't have gone to the world cup, apparently the knee injury before he went was at the back of his knee and when he came back it was at the front? Could have been the other way around but you get the point. Really not sure whether he came back wit ha new injury or not, Maddison was captain today too
Weird centreback pairing. Shaw and maguire. Maguire has been hung out to dry in this game. He needs a proper centreback alongside him
I'm not doubt reading too much into it but Kane looked scared every time Faes went near him in the match, probably because he got brought down by him early. I think it was the second goal when Faes came in hard again and his tackle turned into the perfect pass. For England's sake I hope I was wrong because if Kane got rattled by that it would suggest a knock of some kind he's carrying?
Alfie Mawson has announced his retirement at 29. Not that shocking news, but only a few years ago he was called up for England. It's a pity that injuries got the better of him.
Interesting thread from statsbomb, they created a model that puts an overall value on a players on the ball actions and how it impacts their team, be it negatively or positively. You can see how England's players have performed for their teams this season. On-Ball Value rankings for EVERY Premier League team: a thread 🧵On-Ball Value (OBV) is a model that values each action based on the +/- impact it has on their team's likelihood of scoring and conceding (explainer: https://t.co/Z3JWQwmRhB)First: Arsenal 🔽#AFC pic.twitter.com/EvCFOb6sYd— StatsBomb (@StatsBomb) February 15, 2023
Just a random comment. But I've been watching a lot of the England test Cricket team lately and over the last year they've totally changed there mindset. They've gone from trying not to lose at all costs to trying to win at all costs. Which has seen them go from a very average side to one of if not the best side in the world with more or less the same players, I think for Southgate to take the next step he needs to stop worrying so much about not losing and just go all out for the win more.
I firmly believe Kane shouldn't play a game for England from now on unless its a qualifier and even then he shouldn't be playing the full 90, its 4 years since Vardy retired and we still haven't really replaced him in the pecking order, time for that to happen
