I think it's unfortunate as I think they'll stay up, but my guess is the two ManU games go badly, Jesse gets replaced, there's a "new coach bounce" that would have happened anyway and Leeds stays up by a few points. Hope I'm wrong, but this weekend was tough for Leeds and they really needed to salvage a point today. The attack has 0 focus.

    Another report:

I find it odd that they wouldn't wait until after the ManU, uh, "series". The interim or replacement manager opening up against Everton feels like it would be more attractive for whoever they bring in, but maybe he has lost the locker room and it's become untenable...

Man - I was very wrong on this one. I was convinced they would give him more time given the roster, the additions, and the way he was hired.

Can't really blame Leeds here for the firing. I don't know who they bring in right now that's going to be better... but we shall see. You've got to imagine they are looking for someone more dynamic in attacking ideas. They should be scoring more goals than they are.

Can't blame Leeds but also wondering if their momentum tk the Orem and then finishing 9th their first year was more a flash in the pan rather than the new norm mostly because nothing has gone right the last 2 years.

finishing 9th was a bit of a fluke. I don't have the stats but i'm sure they were above their Xg. Also, Bamford no longer being bamford is problematic. That said, simply running and pressing isn't exactly a strong coaching strategy. The nuance of the successful teams just isn't with Leeds.

Perhaps a couple lucky bounces here and there would have saved JM. But they didn't get them and they are relegation fodder once again. Leeds isn't the Leeds of the past, but that doesn't really change the fans expectations. They want to return to European glory (legit, they should shut up and just be happy to be in the prem again - he says from his perch in Manhattan and not Leeds) but are finding it difficult to get off the mark. They need to find a "Kane" somewhere and perhaps the pieces they have in place will click.

If Weston and Rutter can ball out to their potential, they'll be fine. just a shame JM couldn't get them in July as opposed to January.

They can just swap managers. Although West Brom is on a good run of form and now find themselves in the last playoff spot. Might not be worth it for Corberan to leave, you could find yourself back in their Championship if Leeds slip further.

Don’t think the timing is fair to Jesse or Weston, but I guess you can’t blame them based on results. Leeds fans are so insufferable though, I really think I want them to go down just to show them that Jesse wasn’t the problem. They’re so delusional though I’m sure Jesse would still take the blame, even if Bielsa were rehired.

Adams and Wes will land on their feet with another team, Aaronson could use a season in the championship with how he’s played the last four months.

At a certain point, ideas don't put the ball in the back of the net. And they're actually under-performing on actual goals vs xG. Their problem is keeping balls out of their own net, not putting them in the opponent's net. They're top-half-knocking-on Europa League for 'Goals For', but relegation candidates for 'Goals Against'.

Been that way since Bielsa. Jesse was focused on the wrong things. They should have grabbed Dyche when the opportunity was there.

No idea what they will do now.

That would be such a terrible hire. He's had a negative goal differential at all his prior 4 stops, including Olympiakos somehow. Another manager drafting off the Dike effect. Bamford is no Dike. Corberan also just benefited from them transitioning to a superior goalkeeper before he was hired. So they finally started not underachieving their xg differential. These solutions don't seem to exist at Leeds.

Huh? lol. their xgf is 28.77 and they've scored 26. xga is 33.82 and they've given up 34. They need to improve on both sides, obviously. With that said, if you're going to give up goals, you need to find a way to score them. They'd probably be 11th right now if they had scored 8 more goals this season and been even on goal differential.

Leeds fans want their team to avoid relegation, which is definitely where they were headed under Marsch.

The problem with JM is his rigid adherence to a narrow system and his inability to adapt to the opposition's changes. As much as Leeds were successful in pressuring Forest and limiting their chances in the first half, they basically stayed with the same approach even after Cooper made a couple tactical changes at halftime. The second half saw Leeds looking much worse than in the first, but Marsch did nothing other than make like-for-like substitutions and keep trying the same thing.

End result: Leeds didn't have a shot on goal after minute 50... in a must-win match.

Why on earth would you pull Roca and put McKennie on in his place in a double pivot with Adams? McKennie's strength is his vertical movement. Adams and Roca complement each other. Put McKennie on and have him play above Adams and Roca. So frustrating to watch.

It was perplexing to say the least. Harrison as the 10 was also just not going to get it done.

I'm relieved they finally had the balls to do it. But I'm livid! This squad is a complete embarrassment and nobody supporting Leeds is willing to say so.

I've been watching them since he took over and wanted to wait to see how everything would play out. Now, in hindsight...not signing a proper left back and *proven* PL quality striker to start over Bamford cost Marsch his job. It's that simple. If he didn't get backing from the board before last summer window closed it's really a shame but I think it might actually be on Jesse's shoulders cause they STILL didn't address the glaring holes in the squad adequately this window!

All their signings will help down the road but the results would have been even more dire without pure luck of Gnonto, Rodrigo and Summerville overperforming expectations. Marsch leaving might expose whomever is at fault and I hope, for the sake of Adams at least, that there is a proper clearout of all the Championship players in the squad. If I were a serious Leeds supporter not drinking kool-aid I want these guys replaced ASAP:

Struijk (sell or bench...never a PL starter)
    Cooper (bench)
Ayling (might deserve spot starts but depending on him is too risky, should be depth)
Firpo (should've been let go last summer)
Harrison (streaky, has goals in him but probably most overrated in squad...sell)
Greenwood (not what LUFC think and is depth at most...under JM he's been played out of position but is often 1st off the bench, sell or keep him nailed to bench till he develops)
Aaronson (I love his game but he is useless with trash players around, hasn't earned the right to be lock starter in months and needs to be more savvy about overcoming lack of size)

Marsch (or the ultimate decision makers) were far too sentimental about all these players. A non-american manager should have the clout/credibility/judgement needed to properly clear out the dead weight holding back this team.

Hope they stay up this season so Jesse isn't unfairly blamed for the outcome. After that I wouldn't mind seeing these clown fans humbled. They are totally delusional about the potential of the squad especially English guys & Bielsa's pets who rose to prominence during promotion.

That is under performing by the definition of "expected goals" and the amount they're expected to score is 10th best in the league. Leeds under Jesse didn't have a problem creating opportunities. They should be scoring more of them, but that's not a tactical issue, it's an execution issue (and I'd argue that being under by just 2 goals doesn't really point to much of an execution problem either... luck is a factor in this sport).

However, they're letting in more goals than they're expected, and the number they're expected to let in is 5th worst in the league. So the defensive setup is bad, and the defensive execution is so bad that they're letting in more than they should be.

Give all of this, explain to me why the next manager needs to focus on scoring more?

Yeah, they have one of the best goal differentials in the bottom tier due to efficiency. Possession play has helped with defensive deficiencies, but there isn’t anything solving it. I think Wober was a decent signing and will come good.
