Nah. You still hear it. Someone made a joke cartoon about the teams who would still not play this weekend and their representation of United was someone having Licha on their shoulders to get a cereal box from the cupboard.

He has been terrific indeed. And consistent too.

I'd have him and Saliba in the PL team of the first half season at CB.

On the plus side, he doesnt get talked about as much because he has just been so consistently good we kinda expect 8 out of 10 performances from him as a given :)

And Vida had an established partner to settle in with. Licha became the established partner. Lol. Now we need to find his other half.

(Love Rafa but he is too injury prone)

As someone mentioned in the transfer thread, the next goal at CB should be finding someone that can partner Martínez long term and compliments him. We need to build the defense around him. Probably not going to happen in the next year with Rafa, Maguire, and Lindelof still around and priority being 9 and RB. But long term that should be the goal. If we can move Maguire next summer maybe we bring in someone like Timber and we have our CB pairing set for the next 8 years.

So, what are we saying lads?

Another game, another outstanding performance. Where do we rank this man among Premier League CBs?

What does he need to improve on?

He's been exceptional. Once he can establish himself with Argentina, I think the accolades will really come in for him.

Relieved - as is a straightforward injury to recover from. Achilles would have been truly bad.

Will be a huge miss as he has been immense and compared to Rafa ever present, but at least we have him for start of next season.

This sucks but it’s the better of the two by a mile. He should be ready to go for preseason whereas an Achilles injury would’ve meant him not playing until 2024 most likely. So this is a relief.

^ He was being ironic. But yea lots of shorter defenders got it done. Baresi, Cannavaro... but that was in Italy when they were ahead of everyone else in the world, at a time when the forwards were becoming smaller and more mobile (Vialli was the archtype) and English football was banned from Europe. In the 80s/90s, big men at both ends dominated the game. England was a bit late to the trend (when they returned to European football). A lot of the pundits today come from that time when it was still an English game dominated by bigger defenders/forwards and still think in those terms. I think that's why they still have this idea in their head you need to be a big man to defend well in EPL.

One of the best debut seasons.

Youtube clips cant really show the sheer amount of workload he gets through every game and his intelligent positioning.

Also, so very consistent - pretty much a guaranteed 8/10 every game.
