Speculation only but That will explain why , not because Mourinho was unimpressed

It's because of the club poverty

The tough thing to judge about Pinto is that it's so clear that this is mainly Mourinho's team and Pinto is just doing his bidding to large degree.

So, Pinto's value is really going to be how well he finds diamonds in the rough to add to the players Mourinho requests.

Just like you mention with Sabatini, these type signings are the life blood for a club like Roma to compete with CL level teams. Otherwise you fall into the trap of signing way too many 30-34 year old stop gap players.

Napoli isn't where they are because of budget but because so many of their Abraham and Shomurodov type signings are becoming world class performers and a large percentage of Camara, Vina, Svilar, Solbakken, Belotti type players are fantastic contributors.

Pinto gets credit for getting the Dybala deal done but it was also a pretty unique situation that you're not going to replicate often.

It may be too early to judge but I'd rate Pinto at this point about like Mourinho, where our position in the table since they've arrived relative to Napoli, Lazio, Atalanta etc tells the story: Not horrible but not that great either.

Usually a football manager only tell the recruiting department / DoF what criteria he wanted for new signing, they don't specifically mention name. Even if they did mention name , there would be short-listed of players from 1st choice to 5th for several positions

If you guys have money and don't have to pick other club trash , Mourinho would have prefer a much better player to get.

Mourinho : " i would like a defender whose attributes and skillset are like this and that"

Pinto : "Here is the short list we can get from free transfer / loan signing"

What level of quality do you expect from free players ? They are free because their ex club no longer interested in them, either because they are shit, old, finished, injury prone , or asking too much wage their ex club didn't want to sanction.

Loan signing is loan because they must be a leftover because their club has better player to play for their position.

Mourinho coaching stock value got hurt with Chelsea's sack, followed by United's sack, followed by Tottenham's. That's why he is here operating Roma's budget.
If he fails at Roma, your next destination will be posting on a Chinese forum. Helps, if you start learning Chinese now.

    Stop busting our balls.

Go sack him today you will see the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea or PSG contact him and eager to replace their current manager with. Ancelotti might be retiring next season, Florentino Perez would have loved to work with Mourinho again
Graham potter is on massive pressure after being backed heavily , few more losses and he will definitely out

Nainggolan goal and an assist on his debut for Spal in Serie B. I don’t think if you threw Cristante in his place he’d do that.

Vicario. That’s it, do what we need to go get him here this summer.

Baldanzi and Parisi would be great pick ups too

There's no way Galatasaray pays 30mil. for this shithead, especially with how their local currency is doing right now. The only way we can send the ungrateful brat packing to Turkey would be if we were interested in trading for a Galatasaray player + money.

Plus he'll never go to Turkey, they'll eat his fragile mindset up for breakfast with their morning coffee.

Baldanzi is the closest thing you’ll find to a Dybala lite in this league.

I'd hate to see what a Miltante lite looks like

You guys can do worse than sign Muriqi. Scored a great header against Real today. Not a bad alternative to Tammy.

    30 mil... in lira.

IMO, he should fire his agent and admit he made a mistake, if he's man enough. That's the only way out for him if he wants a serious future in football, playing for Italy, etc.

Apparently, his agent advised him to take the Bournemouth offer so he only has himself to blame for the situation he ended up in.

I think Roma should hold out for those 30mil. if Zaniolo wants out, he cost us the 30mil offer a week ago, he can make it back up to Roma if he wants out now. Either take a massive salary cut so Galatasaray can offer us more money or re-sign his contract at massively reduced wage to entice our club to take him seriously and be confident in getting compensated if he gets another chance at ever playing here for minutes and exposure. I.e. extend him for 3 years for the same 2.5mil, but spread equally across the 2-3 years.

Make the turd pay with his own money for the Milan/Bournemouth fiasco and he only gets out if he works for it to benefit the club, not himself.

Obviously he won't take such a deal, not unless we hung his whole career on it and push him into a corner.

Having to go to the Turkish league is punishment enough. The most expensive purchase in Turkish league history is like 17 million euros so I see us getting max 20 + like 3-4m in bonuses.

    Fair enough.

Although, I wouldn't say no to a 20-30% sell on clause, so we get to 30mil eventually when they inevitably resell him in a season or two. :) The question is whether Galatasarayand the Roma management both agree that they have us over a barrel, or not.
