So to get the Helmond out of Hungary we need Ferencvaros to hold it until (or possibly lose it and regain it again) March 9 or 16 when they will play Europa football matches again. They play 5 times before March 9, and have only lost 2x all year in league play, however they play the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th place teams in the next 5 matches, 2 of those on the road (where both their losses occurred).
Did Real made a deal at a crossroads when it comes to CL? Liverpool is in a terrible shape while United is better and better
Madrid without Benzema, Militão, and Courtois and have gone down a goal early in the match against Mallorca. Dropped points here would be big for us if we can get the 3 points today.
Such an odd situation at the moment. Just a couple of days ago we were 8 points clear (even if one game in hand for Madrid). If Madrid wins today they’ll only be 2 points off until we play later today. Still a long way to go before the domestic league is decided. Let’s see what happens in the second half. If there’s one annoying trait about Madrid is that they somehow always find a way to come back (often times with luck or help from officiating).
True. I'd take a draw as well. And as I just write that, it's PK for Madrid. Stupid goalie. They also have Tchouameni back. EDIT: by stupid goalie I mean awesome goalie !!!
Mallorca gets the win. This time around Madrid weren't able to create the scoring chances they typically do. 29 fouls in total for Mallorca. Systematic fouling. Chance to open up 8 points now. Let's not drop this chance.
What a nice surprise and opportunity! Atletico also drew yesterday. Never saw us finishing with 100 points so we need results like this to win la Liga with 90 points
Helmond Cup update: Ferencvaros 3-1 Ujpest Next: Saturday 11 February Nemzeti Bajnokság I, 21. Forduló Kisvarda v Ferencvaros
I think it's about time we do another OTT thread. Any thread title suggestions ? In light of the Man City scandal and EPL spending and etc ... I am thinking about some titles. Financial Fugazzi Play - The OTT (or Fugazzi Fair Play) English Ponzi League - The OTT Trains, Planes, and State Owned Clubs - The OTT I am typically not creative for these things, so throw your suggestions.
Would be interesting to see the PKs against next to these numbers, and the resulting +/- difference. It's a small sample size but Barca getting just 1 is quite... ummm ... interesting for a team that has the ball most of the time and gets a lot of touches in the opponent's box....
Probably players getting in the box but not dribbling much ? I honestly don't really recall too many PK calls that were not called. So 1 PK is not surprising to me.
Qatar looking to make a bid for ManU. One problem is that they own PSG and UEFA doesn't allow 1 owner with 2 clubs in the same competition. Obviously they will create "new owners" via a new investment group to curtail that rule. English Petro League
PSG knocked out of French Cup by Marseille 2 x 1. Messi and Neymar were playing. Ramos throws one of his "accidental" elbows at the GK in the last cross of the game. Almost starts a melee.
While Pep used to play the plausible naiveness card, he is now going full bat for his owners. Man ... that oil money must be really sweet. Somebody should tell him they got off in the UEFA case because of a technicality. This is pretty shameful from him. “I am not moving from this seat, I want to stay. More than ever, I’m sure. They did not lie to me. Look what happened with UEFA, we did not do anything wrong. Why should I not trust my people?” "These 19 Premier League have set a precedent. What they [rival PL clubs] have done to us, be careful with that”. “Be careful in the future. Many clubs can make suggestions and there are a lot of clubs that can be accused, like we have been accused...”. “Man City proved that we were completely innocent with the UEFA case. Why should I not think right now when there is not an acquisition?”
Pep: "They did not lie to me...... Why should I not trust my people?” Sandro Rosell: "Hold my beer." J. M. Bartomeu: "Hold my sangria."
Now it's Messi who will likely miss the Bayern CL match coming up. That leaves Neymar alone to carry the load. No tears shed for PSG from me.
Barca Femeni news, last draw of the season was held today, not only did we get Roma, but we know if we beat them we get a rematch with Lyon assuming they beat Chelsea: The full quarter final line up AS Roma v FC Barcelona Olympique Lyon v Chelsea Bayern Munich v Arsenal Paris Saint-Germain v Wolfsburg Lyon spanked Barca in the final last year, so it would be nice to get some revenge. Quarterfinals 21/22 March then return legs 29/30 March, Barca hosts the return leg, and has never faced Roma who never made the quarterfinals before (they were 2nd to Wolfsburg in their group, we topped Bayern in our group). Roma are leading in Italy. Barca and Roma are the only clubs representing their countries in the quarterfinals, which France, England and Germany have 2 each in the quarters.
Apparently Messi will play after all. He will train on Monday and then start on Tuesday but obviously his effectiveness is a question mark.
