Very quiet deadline day for Ajax, from what I saw: * Victor Jensen went to Utrecht, I imagine for a very small fee * Ajax signed a 17 yo winger Mika Godts from Genk for 1m. Let's hope he's better than all of these talents they keep signing. * Gorter to Aberdeen on a loan -- and he was extended to 2026. A couple almosts... * Tadic agreed with Roma on a transfer but it fell through. Semi-shocking but not really. Any big fee for him would have been found money. (This was according to Italian media) * Ajax agreed with Lyon on a transfer fee for Grillitsch but he wanted to stay. I'm hoping Alvarez to CB will let him play more.
I don't either-- I believe if he gets healthy and we add another ball playing MF, that'd really change things. Looks like all the big names have said 'no' to Ajax. I don't blame them- club is in total chaos. Signs pointing to Heitinga finishing the year as the manager. Looks like they're going to let him add another assistant.
Sneijder: "I am not a fan of Álvarez. Last week I said something about Sánchez too. My mailbox is full of Mexicans. They weren't happy. I don't know if the Ajax games are broadcasted over there, but they can see it too right? That they both suck." pic.twitter.com/QYG1ng1MlS— 𝐀𝐅𝐂 𝐀𝐉𝐀𝐗 💎 (@TheEuropeanLad) January 27, 2023
Snjeider just should shut the f*ck up. Of course all the Ajax matches are shown in Mexico. Alvarez has worked his ass off since coming to Ajax to make himself a better player.
I could, to a point, agree with Sneijder. Alvarez was no good as a MF, as a DC he's doing better so far. Sanches really sucks.
Sneijder Van Basten Van Der Vaart all rather negative pundits. Ibrahim Affellay too. Pierre Van Hooijdonk somewhat neutral compared to these others.
He's staying till end of season https://www.telegraaf.nl/sport/1101...f-als-trainer-ajax-dwight-lodeweges-assistent
That's weird. Ajax seems to have asked van het Schip to be assistent coach to Heitinga. He refused the offer. Of course he did. Are they tripping or something?
The Dutch are so much like Germans. There seems to be a very direct manner that often can bristle if you are not familiar with it. Also whatever is the Dutch version of a meat pie, Wes needs to put them down. He seems to have been helping himself to far too many.
The former Greece head coach!? Look if they want to find a mentor for Heitenga they can look at one of their alums but T'Schipp should the Head Coach in Europe if not German Second division, not someone's assistant.
was never going to happen. Remember he was a care taker manager some years ago after van Basten resigned.
A solid win against an over matched Cambuur side. A couple of errors on defense but they did not lead to any goals and Cambuur only had one real shot on goal. Offense was very good today patiently unlocking the back five in the first half. Once Ajax went up 0-2, things were pretty much over but three more goals added to the festivities. The players look much more relaxed under Heitinga which is good to see. Hato got his eredivisie debut at age 16. Reeger and Fitz-Jim from Jong Ajax also saw action today. Let's hope the progress continues as the league looks to be very tight among the top five clubs. Player Ratings: Rulli (6) - only had one tough save to make and was cool on the ball in terms of distribution, very few long kicks needed in this game Rensch (6) - decent enough in the game Alvarez (6.5) - two problems on defense where he was too close to the player with the ball and he didn't make the intervention but otherwise OK Timber (6.5) - decent game and had little defending to do Wijndal (6) - more of the attacking went down the right side today Taylor (6.5) - much better today than in past games Berghuis (7.5) - outstanding match with two nice goals Davy One Goal (6) - very good assist but just average otherwise Kudus (7) - all those wasted matches at striker, better on the wing or in the MF Tadic (7) - another good game at striker Bergwijn (6.5) - forced two really good saves from the Cambuur keeper Brobbey (6.5) - two good goals and just might be the golden boot winner in the Eredivisie if he keeps this up Hato (6) - wasn't involved much but good to see an academy debut Reeger (NR) - on late Conceicao (NR ) - on late Fitz-Jim (NR) - on late Beker match with FC Twente in Enschede on Thursday then RKC Waalwijk on the weekend.
Much better play today from Ajax. Little better organization defensively and the attack was a little faster and fluid. Bergwijn searching for that goal was good on the ball and his movement was clever. Kudus had a brilliant touch on the second goal much better dropping into midfield and playing on the wing. Taylor much better on the ball and actually moving it forward was good to see too. Very good play from Berghuis who had a tremendous ball on Brobbey’s second goal. Brobbey’s first goal was impressive quick touch and fire in a tight area. Love seeing the youngsters come in and look confident on the ball
Better football today was the positive note. It’s been tough days for us Ajax fans so yeah it’s Cambuur and all but needed a positive performance for a change.
Waiting until after November could prove to be fatal. But we are only 3 back and charging forward. Happy the change happened. I've been very impressed by Rulli. Early but massive upgrade at GK. Some very logical, obvious moves like Alvarez to CB, Tadic to 9, Kudus to RW or 10, Wijndal to LB have made a giant difference. Interesting-- Brobbey is starting for Jong Ajax today (as are Fitz-Jim, Hato). I hope they're ramping the later two up to play even more for A1! It's been great to see some youngsters get minutes of late.
Ajax U-18 team defeats BTK Budapest 1-0 to move forward in the UEFA Youth League. Ajax goal was a penalty taken by Misehouy. Tommy Setford saved a penalty in added time to preserve the win. AZ defeated Eintracht Frankfurt to also progress.
