They’ve also done what we failed to do in 2016 and strengthened the squad with Trossard. He isn’t going to score boat loads of goals, but he’s a credibly off-the-bench player they don’t really need, but gives Arteta options. Meanwhile we’ve got Lucas injured, Sonny misfiring, Richarlson injured and not exactly lighting things up … and we’re still playing run Kane in to the ground while Levy does his usual rifling through the discount bin. He looks a genius when it works out, but the other 95% of the time we get the likes of Clinton n’Jie.
It doesn't sound promising. Levy with the usual haggling over Pedro Porro, and crickets on the play-making mid and central defender we need. Meanwhile, just about everyone else is getting deals done and dusted. No wonder Conte is not interested in signing an extension.
Go to hell. Just kidding, mate. Yeah, a couple of things there resonate with me. First, the fight bit. I've said for years that the first, fundamental difference between Wenger's all-conquering teams and what came after was fight. If I'm honest, I probably used the term 'Patrick Vieira', rather than 'fight', but for all of their beautiful football, those teams were tough in a way that they simply were not once Vieira moved on. If your squad has a new Paddy Vieira, I don't watch them enough to know who it is. But you're right, this is different gravy. The way you rolled over to us at ours last year was pathetic, and what came the following game was worse. I'm hoping that character flaw is still in there somewhere ... just waiting to manifest itself ... **please, please, please** ... but I can't see it. Then there's the 'just like how it does for us this year'. I cannot be clear enough about this: I am in no way objective about this and I am absolutely praying for your season to go tits up. But ... I think I can say that if I could be objective ... if I were neutral ... I might see something in that. Within the context of the zillion things that I hate about what the game is becoming, it can probably be said that Arsenal, as things currently stand, possess fewer of those things than most of the other contenders. I can see why some are pleased with how the season is playing out thus far. Of course, it must be said that Arsenal do possess one thing that none of the other contenders do which makes them far more deplorable than any other contender, no matter how much oil money or sense of entitlement their fans exhibit. They're Arsenal. Ugh. Come on City, you smug c*nts, pull your finger out.
Not just Vieira. The relics they had from the George Graham era were all about that and they had the experience, having won the league and in Europe before Wenger. Arsenal now are like a mini-me version of City.
Geez, and I thought this was a Spurs forum. City will do what they always do, reel off 16 wins in a row and win the league by a point on the last day.
https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...spurs-arsenal-wishing-someone-is-going-to-die No. While I don't chant that stuff I still despise you.
Same. He displays absolutely no awareness of what he did to us. If you want a clean slate maybe make some recognition of that. The closest he comes is putting it down to his age at the time... 26... which sounds a bit like George W. excusing his DUI aged 32 by 'youthful exuberance'. His job opportunities have not been 'limited' by our reaction to him, as the article claims, perhaps more by his own (lack of) talents beyond playing and his general unpleasantness.
He knew fully what he was doing and the consequences, so I don't have any sympathy for him. The article referred to him as 'worldly'. Really? He doesn't speak any foreign languages and has never lived outside of the UK. Plus he voted for Brexit. How does that make him worldly? He plays this card every time he has a failure in his life (the most recent was being overlooked for Honours). We saw the same act when he failed miserably as a coach at Macclesfield and Southend. He even referred to himself as an icon. Nobody refers to themself as an icon.
The same paper let Sol Campbell mug himself off with his own words in 2018. His lack of self-awareness is amazing; https://amp-theguardian-com.cdn.amp...b/26/sol-campbell-oxford-united-craig-bellamy
The "I was only 26" claptrap doesn't cut it. He grew up in this part of the world and as a Spurs player, he knew very well what he was getting himself into. He is basically a modern day Faust.
Sheffield Wednesday are about to sell out Hillsborough for Saturday's League1 match v Plymouth Argyle. So that'll be just short of 40k*. Plymouth and Wednesday currently occupy the automatic spots and a win would send the Owls top. Plymouth have sold out their 3700-ticket allotment, which is not bad at all considering the distance they'll have to cover on the day. Should be a cracking atmosphere. Not bad for a 3rd tier match in February. *actually, I believe they have to close off a small section(s) due to Policing/safety concerns, so we can probably take one- or two-thousand off of that. Still, it'll be an advert for English footy. I can't see many crowds that size for a 3rd tier match outside England.
Charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped. Regardless of that fact, as charges get dropped all the time on technicalities, the recording of him and his then girlfriend is pretty gross, as are the photos of her bruises and cuts.
Apparently Spence impressed on his debut. No doubt we’ll recall him, stick him back on the bench for three seasons and lose him on a free transfer.
Funny you should mention that... I watched the game, within 4 minutes he had beaten his man and put in a wicked cross that nearly resulted in a goal. Is there something I'm not getting here?
I believe it's like Hollywood execs who bury movies that were greenlit by their predecessor. They don't want the ex-exec to get any glory (see magnificent flops like John Carter, Lone Ranger, Treasure Planet) Conte didn't sign DJed, doesn't want him to succeed or he could end up with other players he doesn't want. Still, Conte has health concerns and has had a few friends die recently. He'll be back in Italy by next season and Spurs will have Poch return to the helm. Hopefully Levy will back Poch this time.....
Man City charged with over 100 breaches of financial rules and could face a points deduction or relegation. Lol
