Til, Veerman and Gravenberch have been unfairly snubbed.
Seeing Xavi Simons and Kenneth Taylor in the list and not them makes me get angry!

  5. Veerman in the match against AZ showed again the flaws I question him about. He can't do his thing when under pressure by a quality opponent in the midfield and was forced into making bad choices.
Joey has to improve considerably before he should be called up. Against Senegal he would have drowned.
I still am very happy we couldnot buy him.

Don't understand why Berghuis plays as midfielder. When you also have Koopmeiners or Simons

Not sure about van der Vaart's abilities to assess qualities, but perhaps those who watch HSV can comment on his remarks.

Van der Vaart sees Netherlands future for Reis
Posted by admin on December 29th, 2022 08:35 PM | News, Oranje
Rafael van der Vaart believes Hamburg midfielder Ludovit Reis has the ability to play for the Netherlands national team in the future.

Reis made his breakthrough at Groningen before joining Barcelona in 2019. He played for their B team and ended up at Hamburg via VfL Osnabrück.

The Netherlands U21 international is impressing at Hamburg this season and Rafael van der Vaart is a big fan of the midfielder.

Speaking to BILD, Van der Vaart said on Reis, “I am a big fan of Ludovit. He is a great football player. I like his technique, the dynamics and the game with and without the ball. And with three goals, he is also quite dangerous as a midfielder.”

Reis is not an option for the Netherlands at the moment, but Van der Vaart sees that in his future, “Reis only has a chance for the big Orange if he plays in the first division. And the best would be at HSV. The competition is simply too great for him to be invited to Oranje playing in a second division team.”

I notice Reis is another one of those you g players that left too soon for a big club and had to find his way again. VdV can be trusted to assess the talents of a player. I don't trust these analysts on anything when it comes to what a team needs to do on Academy or anything like that but I do believe they have the basic scaling ability from their experience to look at a player and see that this kid is special or has the ability to be special.

Van Der Vaart and Sneijder’s words certainly seemed to be the beginning of the end for Cillessen playing for Oranje.

I was never sold on Clissen. I was never sold that he was the kind of goalie to make the possible save and keep his team in the game

Again this is other guy that has been on my radar and I follow him at Hamburg.he is the guy I’m waiting for to come on to NT stage. He could be the perfect partner for frenkie if any. Though he plays in Bundesliga 2 his performance certainly has not gone unnoticed with teams already scouting him from top divisions. He is a natural athlete and his ability to play across any position in the mid is a testimony of it. He is also the second most valuable player right now B2.

    https://www.transfermarkt.com/2-bundesliga/marktwerte/wettbewerb/L2

I know he won’t be called up playing in a 2 division league and the only hope is either Hamburg can gain promotion back to Bundesliga or a transfer for him to a competitive league/ club in order to crack into NT.

  12. If the idiotic act of calling in benchers from Ajax into the selection, I don't see something wrong with calling him in.

vdBeek off with injury today at HT after he got a rare start.

He needs to be loaned out to a Liga team

I never thought all that much of him with some rather poor displays when Oranje failed to qualify for Euro 2016 and World Cup 2018.
He was hurt a lot too but seemed to improve during the Nations League run but was then dropped by De Boer for the Euros which was controversial over a failed Covid test.
Cillessen was quite upset by this which I can understand. Even being dropped for this past World Cup seemed wrong but like I said Van Der Vaart and Sneijder really buried his character that definitely played into LVG decision.

  16. Guys, this thread is for the midfielders. Do this in the appropriate thread.

Koopmeiners scored a cannonball yesterday.... his fifth goal of the season. It'd be nice to see him unleashing that type of long-distance shot in Oranje shirt. I feel that's the type of offensive repertoire that Oranje doesn't utilize at the moment. Hope that Koeman (a very good shooter himself) will fix!!

If Koop can reach 70% of Casemiro, I'd be happy, Casemiro is probably the most important signing for MU. He is important when fouling without receiving yellow card/red card when the opponent counter attack (e.g. I'm not sure if there is stat for this). He also can assist and has long distance shot (which Koop has). With him in the middle, the 2 wing backs can attack without worrying much. The 2 centre backs and De Gea also received the cover they need. Let's see if Koeman can make Koop better or perhaps some other player can step up to improve the midfield.

Koopmeiners with one goal and one assist in the weekend. And one missed penalty. His total this season is now 6 goals (2nd leading scorer for Atalanta), and 3 assists (most). Already exceeded last year's total of 4 goals and 3 assists, with only half of the season completed.

BTW - Atalanta's opponent, Salernitana, featured Tony Vilhena in the squad. Haven't seen news on him in years. He last played for Oranje 4 years ago. Crazy that he's just 28!! He broke through Feyenoord in a very young age IIRC.

  22. This is what PSV watcher Elfrink writes about it:
PSV’ers Joey Veerman en André Ramalho in de belangstelling van het Turkse Besiktas

PSV-middenvelder Joey Veerman en verdediger André Ramalho staan in de belangstelling van Besiktas. Volgens een doorgaans betrouwbare bron bij de Turkse topclub willen de Turken Veerman huren. Of PSV daarvoor open staat, valt nog te bezien. Dat lijkt heel onaannemelijk.

PSV'ers Joey Veerman and André Ramalho in the interest of the Turkish Besiktas
PSV midfielder Joey Veerman and defender André Ramalho are in the interest of Besiktas. According to a usually reliable source at the Turkish top club, the Turks want to rent Veerman. Whether PSV is open to that remains to be seen. That seems very implausible. Rik Elfrink 24-01-23, 16:34 Last update: 24-01-23, 16:48

Somebody needs to sign Ludovit Reis from Hamburg. Or unless hamburg gets promoted to the top flight. Scored a spectacular winner for hamburg vs Braunschweig.

he could be the missing puzzle in the midfield especially on that Right side.

Koeman must pay a visit.... Branco van den Boomen is having a killer season in France league playing for Toulouse. Currently the 8th best player in Ligue 1 by FotMob rating. Some players above him, as you might have guessed, are the big dogs like Messi, Neymar and Mbappe.

    Deep-lying, defensive-minded playmaker.
    Already 27 years-old (late bloomer?)
4 goals and 7 assist this season. Last season, Toulouse were in the Division 2, and he registered 12 goals and a whopping 21 (whoa!!) assists.
Set-piece specialist, and a penalty killer.

I watched highlights on YouTube and it seems like he's comfortable with the ball, a willing passer and more-than-capable to launch long-distance passes.

I hope Koeman would recognize right away that Frenkie needs to play higher up, and slot another DMC with superior ball-handling skills. Koopmeiners becomes a necessity. And now van den Boomen and possibly Q. Timber (if he's back to fitness?). No more Klaassen or Berghuis in midfield. And use De Roon in case of brick-walling only. Stash Taylor and Gravenberch for now until they get their acts together.
