They’re for recognizing fair play. Supposedly a strategy to encourage better behavior? I don’t think there is a “consequence” for getting a white card. I think it’s just a nice moment. I think this ref gave one to the opposing bench for helping with an injury.

Post match yellows would be more effective.

Thanks, perhaps some rewards at the end of the season, there used to be a reward for the team with the best disciplinary record

I wonder if the mods will use them on here now too?

You'd get a lot of white cards Jim. Folks on here appreciate your honesty and kindness. Me? I am not sure I would accumulate too many white cards.

Chelsea hire mentality coach behind famous New Zealand All Blacks "no d1ckheads" policy. Gilbert Enoka has been hired on a short-term basis by Chelsea, who want the New Zealand rugby union mental skills coach to help create a winning culture at Stamford Bridge . . . .I guess the manager/coach is supposed to do this? But Potter has out sourced it.

Gilbert Enoka has spent the last seven years as the All Black's manager for leadership after 15 years working as their mental skills coach. Now, though, Enoka is stepping into English football in what's being described as a short-term consultancy role at Chelsea Football club.

Enoka also spent six years working to improve the Kiwi Cricket team's mental fortitude and three years with the nation's netball side, the Silver Ferns.

At the centre of Enoka's philosophy is for every player to take responsibility for their actions.
I guess this responsibility doe not apply to Potter?
There was talk of weekly paint ball sessions, but Potter thought that that would be too aggressive and opted for the mentality coach instead.

Enoka would make New Zealand's players take turns to sweep the changing rooms after games to ensure that big egos didn't detract from the team's culture.

In this new "sweeper" system Which Chelsea players will be the best with a broom?
If it were me [and considering the salaries these players] I would out source the sweeping [like Potter is out sourcing the player mentality management] and I would get one of those vacuum robots. Top of the line Roomba.

Some may feel that it is the managers job to instill a winning mentality and that a team doesn't need a special motivational coach.

Then again, If we lose to West Ham & Dortmund the club may be tempted to bring in a special "tactical coach" as well

Neither Milan nor Napoli are good enough to get in the final. This is Italy's best CL run in ages.

Either way, we avoided Citeh and Bayern, would've loved our chances against Milan or Benfica. But incredibly silly to play Madrid again.

Yea it’s def sus cause if we do manage to beat RM don’t we face the winner of City vs Bayern. While the Italian teams face off with Benfica. Whichever team wins our side of the bracket is winning it all.

Jude Bellingham, Pedri, Bukayo Saka lead ESPN's 39 best male players age 21 or under. 2 of the players on the list are Chelsea players.
    20. Andrey Santos, CM
    Club/country: Chelsea/Brazil
    Age: 18
    Estimated transfer value: €12m

Santos was signed by Chelsea from Brazilian second-tier side Vasco da Gama for around €12m in January. However, any doubts about his quality were quickly wiped out as the midfielder captained Brazil to another South American Under-20 Championship, finishing as joint-top scorer with six goals. Santos would have figured for Chelsea this season but, because of work permit restrictions, had to return to his former club on loan before he can play in England.

Strengths: With great energy, strength and high levels of technical ability, the 18-year-old can successfully be deployed as a No. 6 defensive midfielder or as a roaming box-to-box midfielder. In fact, his vigorous style makes him more suited to the latter as he is brilliant at driving forward with the ball and timing his runs into the box. Most of his goals originate from picking up rebounds and reading where the ball will drop in the final third.

How he can improve: The Premier League's intensity means he will have less time on the ball. He will need to adapt to its physicality, too.
    16. Benoit Badiashile, CB
    Club/country: Chelsea/France
    Age: 21
    Estimated transfer value: €40m

So far, Badiashile represents a rare success story of Chelsea's €350m January spending spree. A €38m signing from Monaco, the left-footed defender has brought coach Graham Potter the necessary balance to revert to his preferred back three, without appearing fazed by being hurried into a challenging environment as the Blues won only four of their first 15 games in 2023.

Strengths: Physically imposing and comfortable on the ball, Badiashile looks every inch the modern centre-back. Though he can walk a tightrope with the excessive confidence he displays when bringing the ball out of the defence, the France international has toned down his risk-taking for a more safety-first approach. Badiashile reads the game exceptionally well, deals assertively with challenges and transmits confidence across the back line.

How he can improve: Badiashile needs to show more of what we saw from his Monaco days: evading opposing pressure and playing the first, incisive pass out of defence.

I’d love it if you trounced City !!

They may be broken men by the time you play them if Real Madrid knock them out of the CL again
