Jorge Hernandez at KV Mechelen (Belgium)

Did not make the bench for yesterday's draw with Circle Brrugge.

 

Friendly with Dutch side Helmond. Hernandez did not start, nor was he subbed into the match. Report here. Last time he appears to have played is 9 November.

 

Did not make the bench today for the league match again.



Team lost 0-2 at home.

 

Next Crokny Cup Match is tomorrow 11 January vs Kortrijk at 12:25 on ESPN +. I doubt that he plays as he has not made the bench for quite some time.

I did find some news about his play recently. All with the U21 team.

4 December - played the entire match in a 4-1 loss to Pepingen-Halle. Match report is here.
11 December - played the entire match in a 0-2 loss to Hades Kiewit. Match report is here. Video is here.
18 December - played 73' in a 3-3 draw at Diegem Sport. The match report is here and the score was 2-3 when he left the match.
8 January - played the first half of a 2-2 draw against Londerzeel. There is video here, and a match report here.

So on one side, he is playing. That is good for his development. The downside is that he is not playing entire matches on a low division team.

He did play the last 13 min for the U21 team on 15 Jan in a 0-0 draw vs. Pepingen-Halle. Match report is here.

 

Pretty important match today for Mechelen and their opponents, Koitrijk.
I doubt that Hernandez makes the bench. There is a U21 match this afternoon, I would suspect he will play in that one.

 

If form holds, he will not make the bench for the Standard match today. There is a U21 match on 29 Jan vs Tongeren that he should play in.

 

Did not make the bench for the first team in a loss to Westerlo. U21 match starts at 2:30 pm Local time today. Match report should/could be up in a few hours.

 

Did not play in the U21 match. Match finished 4-1, but it was 1-1 in the 64'.

 

On yesterday's "The Belgian Football Podcast" they were talking about Mechelen. They spoke about Hernandez and made the comment that he has been a disappointment, and they were "not even sure if he was still with the club."

 

Not on bench today for match vs Charleroi.

 

U21 match vs Lyra-Lierse. Match finished 2-2. Hard to see in the highlights if he played.

This is a huge match for both teams, as such I would be surprised to see Hernandez on the bench.

 

Still getting used to having @RobtheAggie update us on non-Swiss matters. Not that I'm complaining!

 

So much of the Swiss things are in the 4th or 5th division that it is not really worth tracking.

 

The saga continues. In a recent U21 match, another player wore Hernandez's normal #8.
Match reports for the last two U21 matches, vs Hades Kiewit [awesome name by the way] and City Pirates. I have not been able to see him at all. The last sighting of him has been a full month ago.

 

U23 team played on 19 Feb, no sight of Hernandez.

 

So it looks like Hernandez has completely fallen off the face of the earth. According to transfermarket he has not featured for any Mechlenen team since 15 January.

There is a pattern that is easily detectible with that last column.

Nothing since.

 

It appears that he is now on San Antonio FC. He played on 23 April vs Phoenix Rising for his first playing time since January.

Another former YA has left Belgium. I hope whatever went wrong at Mechelen will not happen in San Antonio.

 

I guess it went OK. He won the USL-C's assist title (on a tiebreaker).
