Good stuff. All of that seems pretty observable from those of us following his career - he has definitely seemed more disciplined at Juve for better and worse - but also less impactful as a result - less bringing order out of chaos. And he definitely seems like a clown surrounded by adults (not in a bad way) but the playing style and off the field lifestyle may be a better fit in England - assuming he can stay focused on and off the field.
Not in social life & social interactions, which is what I think Weston was talking about. At work, Northern Europeans are more disciplined. At least in my experience.
I feel Weston will be the key to their survival. Now no idea if they will improve next season or continue to be relegation bait all that matters is right now.
I think he will definitely make some plays for them. The only unfortunate part is I think the move is going to cost Aaronson some minutes.
In the end I’d rather guys are getting the opportunity and I’m sure all the US players have relegation clauses in their contract. And id Marsch gets fired I’m sure he’ll land on his feet, whether with the USMNT or another club team. But you never know, they might even succeed. I just want to know what American center back are we getting to join them, Trusty, CCV, Miles Robinson, McKenzie, or EPB? Or John Tolkin if Wober ends up playing more center back.
The Leeds support was awful back in the 1980's. The chip van riot, the Birmingham riot. Terrible times.
You must have missed this early effort ... I like the first one myself, Weston Union, but Puddin' Weston - pronounced 'put in' Weston - isn't so bad.
This is exactly what I said to my eldest son last night. I am hoping Miles has a great comeback season but the jump from MLS to the EPL is relatively rare.... and he looks pretty beat up on his mugshot photo for his misdemeanor arrest: https://www.wsbtv.com/video/local-v...ds-show/eaea40cb-8684-4e94-ad19-98ea2fa920a4/ I could see McKenzie get a shot if he continues to do so well in Belgium. Trusty would be a dark horse candidate for me. But the most likely candidate would be that Leeds pry Richards away from Palace. I would have mixed feelings about it.
Just circling back to thank you for all of the insight you provided into Juventus during McKennie's time there. A lot of quality content - much appreciated!
lol Germany? No way. I'm also baffled at Scandinavia. Germany is as formal and hierarchical as anywhere. Maybe for soccer specifically, there are some things that lend themselves to Americans in Germany, but its certainly not as if Americans like to stick around Germany if they can get out, Dolo excepted. Frankly, all of Europe is significantly different in how they socialize. Any north-south European difference take a back seat, and I don't think its close, to the US-Europe divide. I'll give you England, but that's because there is no language barrier and enough American cultural influences to give a taste of home.
Well, I hope Wes does bag some goals. Leeds will really need it now. Reports out today that Rodrigo is now out up to 2 months with an ankle injury.
Ouch. Leeds can't seem to keep a striker healthy.... even if he plays more of a 2nd striker role when Bamford is also one the pitch. This might be yet another opportunity for Aaronson to get time at ACM... but Rodrigo was one of the only offensive players they have that could actually put the ball in the net. At any rate, Leeds seem to create a lot of FK/Corners so I think Wes will have ample opportunities to use his head to score.
I'm about as negative about Bamford as they come, but it's hard to deny that the guy CAN score goals. Hopefully his brace vs Cardiff is the start of him regaining his confidence as a productive striker.
Come on, that image was tilted to make Wes look shorter than he was! At least make it level: There, that's better.
Can’t wait till someone posts a photo of Weston and Tyler when they were younger. I bet you in the photo Tyler is gonna end up looking taller. Apologies, I know there is no reading comprehension requirement for BS.
Bielsa put a lot of wear and tear on their bodies, keeping the squad small and playing that balls to the walls style. Think Dike after the sold 16 or so months in a row of playing. Jesse inherited a beat up and small squad that was starting to dip into a player pool that wasn’t good enough for the premier league. They love Bielsa at Leeds, but I liken him to Chris Wilder who also found the success of implementing a style that the rest of the premier league wasn’t use to but caught on pretty quickly. What Leeds are missing is that connecting piece. Aaronson had the ability to press and win the ball but he had to do it so far down field that the dynamic attack wouldn’t work out. I still think Aaronson has a place on the squad in a 10 role he just needed a deeper link man willing to carry the ball up as well. McKennie will fit that role well. They still haven’t answered their most vulnerabile position at RB. Firpo kind of plays better at an advanced position. Wober might be able to cover in a back three but that’s only if an Ayling stays back or they can actually put in Struijk without him being a shaky vulnerability. they are not a relegation team though and I think will finish in the 13th to 15th place area.
There are about 8-9 teams that look good to finish 13-15 so there's no shortage of competition for those spots.
