I do accept you. You just said some ignorant shit, I'm going to call you out on it. In the light of you talking out of your ass, I'll take back my worries about what was said as some whacked out misogyny. Moving forward.....
We need to get this thread back on track after its distraction was rudely interrupted by an argument.
January 2, 2021: September 28, 2021: Today: I watched the first episode. I really don't feel good about this. Not good at all.
Not sure how it came up but we were chitchatting at end of dept Zoom call and I threw out fact that a local businessman was whacked several years ago and the business still sits there empty. Not sure if the non-NJ'ans were amoozed or horrified.
Neil looks like he don't wanna be bothered. "Gimme a smile, Neil!" "I AM smiling" "Then gimme a frown..."
RRHOF is silly but it looks like a Joy Division/New Order election would open the doors for other 80s-90s indie acts that the dinosaurs who run the HOF has largely ignored. Also, Kate Bush, Maiden & Zevon deserve to be in there. 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees:Kate BushSheryl CrowMissy ElliotIron MaidenJoy Division/New OrderCyndi LauperGeorge MichaelWillie NelsonRage Against the MachineSoundgardenThe SpinnersA Tribe Called QuestThe White StripesWarren Zevonhttps://t.co/tbtx48NJC9— Slicing Up Eyeballs (@slicingeyeballs) February 1, 2023
It's interesting that Joy Division and New Order are considered a package deal? Will Bauhaus/Love & Rockets be considered similarly?
RRHOF IS silly. The 80s is just as dinosaur as the 70s... Why would a true indie act be in a Hall of Fame anyway? If they do enough to get noticed internationally and record hits, they stop being indie, if the word has any meaning. Bands That You/I Know About But I/You Do Not Bands Whose Claim To Fame Is Having Influenced a Much Bigger Band ...they don't usually get in Halls of Fame. How many can get in anyhow? None of those guys are getting in before Willie Nelson. Or, for that matter, George Michael... no shit, dude could sing, but he was born with the voice. You hear a Wham song and don't gaf about the song but you listen anyway because talent grabs your attention. Purest male voice I can think of in the genre, including Al Jarreau and Johnny Mathis. No grit whatsoever- he's like the Bizzarro Wilson Pickett. And he's dead, which will put him over the top.
I hope New Order says no, thanks. They won't. Joy Division (the greatest band that ever existed or ever will) should not be in the Cleveland abomination.
But you put this on all Black women. As if they are ignorant to this world. You may not have kids, or ever want to, but you expect all Blacks to be the same as you.
Not only that, it could be one of those heartwarming reunion thingies “To be honest with you, we were always against this sort of thing when we started,” the two groups’ founding bassist tells Billboard via Zoom from his home in England. “It was the old punk thing — we hope we die before we get old and destroy all the old musicians, etc. etc. and what rubbish awards ceremonies are. Then all of a sudden you get one, and as you get older you realize… yeah, it’s a wonderful thing. I’m humbled, I really am. It’s nice, and it’s fun to be appreciated.” https://www.billboard.com/music/roc...-roll-hall-of-fame-nomination-1235209316/amp/
Love Willie. But I assume he's in the Country & Western HOF where he belongs. They should just re-name it the Music HOF.
You went from a post about Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen to something about Black women? I haven't put anything on Black women, not sure where you're getting that from.
I sent this DM to Auria, and he said it belonged here too, so here goes: "Sorry for ragging on you hard today. I went personal, and definitely overstepped. I push people harder whom I respect and think can/will do some introspection (like ASF). I just want to say, I’ve learned a ton from you. A huge part of the reason I got sucked into P&CE is because you and a handful of others whose perspectives I would otherwise have zero access to. Anyway, I’ll try to be better. You deserve better. Cheers!"
