Some good performances in recent weeks from Italian talents. Baschirotto is gaining a cult following in Italy and some people (Caressa) are calling Inter to sign him after they sell Skriniar. Might be a massive flop, but if Napoli is an example you can win by signing talents that are worth less, but can exceed expectations with good coaching. Fagioli has been stellar also
The main problem is the defence: Kalulu was overrated last year, Kjaer is old, Tomori is struggling, and Calabria too. The only good defender is Theo Hernandez, who moreover is an attacking left back.
The mediani are also suffering. Bennacer and Tonali are drowning in this midfield. Pioli needs to change the formation or else they will continue to slide. Milan are in a hole because they had a disastrous mercato in hindsight. Nothing they did improved the team in any way. All of their new signings flopped. De Kaetelare is a player who might be good in 2-3 years but he did cost a huge sum and they didn't need him right now. They didn't address their biggest weak points. Zaniolo might be a much needed upgrade, but they still need a CF and player in the vein Kessie who they did not replace.

Zaniolo has dug himself a big hole right now as Milan have rescinded their interest and the only offer on the table is from Bournemouth. Now it seems the Roma ownership have closed the door on any possible return.
And it looks like Zaniolo has sabotaged himself out of a transfer as he thinks of himself as 'above' Bournemouth. It's looking more and more like Mourinho will park his butt on the bench the rest of the year. And with no Italian teams willing to pony up (especially now that Juve's purse strings are zipped) this could take a long time to resolve
Chelsea just spent 391 million euros this January and Milan cant even afford Zaniolo at 30 mil. This is Serie A these days. Im sure Osihmen will be at United, Chelsa or Liverpool for at least 100 mil this summer
How on earth is Enzo worth thar much? Btw maldini wanted him ownership thought it was too much lol. Boehly is a serious man.
Chelsea are grossly overpaying for some of those buys. Enzo Fernandez is good. but 120 million? Fans need to realize that there needs to be a constant turnover of talent. If you sell your big star, you need to have a replacement programmed. You survive with good scouting, developing talent, and buying smartly. Good players come and go. What matters is that you're first.
Nicolò Zaniolo is not expected to play for Roma again this season, affecting his Italy career, while Jorginho’s Azzurri status could remain unaltered following his move to Arsenal. https://t.co/OJxjhnXg8V #Italy #Azzurri #Mancini #Zaniolo #Jorginho #ASRoma #AFC #Transfers— Football Italia (@footballitalia) February 1, 2023 "This brings even more problems for Mancini who already has little options in attack and will likely be forced to drop Zaniolo for the Nations League Final Four and the opening games of the Euro 2024 qualifiers, including the first one against England in March." Zaniolo has one goal this season btw
I don't buy this "we'll be in trouble without Zaniolo". Everyone here is fully capable: Chiesa, Zaccagni, Berrardi, Politano, Gnonto, Grifo. You can even call back El Shaarawy and Orsolini.

So he's going to be given the space. Hopefully Sarri could do go work with him
I've always been a fan of SES, he's been playing well lately. I agree, we'll be fine without Zaniolo, he hasn't been the same after injuries anyway so what exactly are we losing out on? As far as the market is concerned, Serie A is broke.
