Revs pre-season schedule should be coming out soon. Other MLS teams have already announced theirs. For example, the LA Galaxy will be hosting 11 other MLS clubs in a pre-season tournament: LA Galaxy to Participate in Second Annual Coachella Valley Invitational from Feb. 6 – 15 at Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA By LA Galaxy Communications Thursday, Dec 1, 2022, 01:01 PM First game (DCU vs CLT) is on February 1st, which also happens to be the day MLS Season Pass kicks off on Apple TV. Coincidence?
2023 MLS Preseason Schedule and Results By MLSsoccer staff Revs' section is still TBA, but under Inter Miami it lists a closed scrimmage with New England in Sarasota, FL on Feb 2nd. Less than a month away!
Revs section is now filled in: Revolution Announce Five-Game 2023 Preseason Schedule Friday, Jan 6, 2023, 02:00 PM revolutionsoccer.net
Does anyone know if these preseason games will be open to the public? Can I get tickets to watch them in person? I live in between St Pete & Clearwater and seeing the Revs could make living in this swamp slightly less miserable than normal.
Miami still lists the Revs match as closed door. But Orlando is selling tickets to their game vs the Revs: https://www.orlandocitysc.com/news/...reseason-schedule-presented-by-orlando-health
Your Tuesday Kickoff: Way too early Eastern Conference Power Rankings By J. Sam Jones Tuesday, Jan 17, 2023, 10:32 AM He has the Revs 10th in the East (which is where they finished 2022).
Struck me as kind of cynical, compared to the ratings of teams above them. Yes, finding a way to get Bou-Vrioni-Gil to work in a lineup is a challenge, but Arena was able to get Bou-Buksa-Gil really humming, so I think he deserves more faith in that respect. It's pretty hard to state the impact of injuries - and the lack of fitness/rhythm because of them - with what happened last year. We just never really got in a good place. I think if we can stay healthy through training camp, we'll really hit the ground running - I have no doubt there's a ton of pent up frustration (i.e., motivation) from a lot of parties.
I think Tajon was a big ingredient to how Bou/Buksa/Gil was able to work based on his amazing athleticism, commitment to defending, and strong 1v1 attacking ability. Maybe Borrero is the guy, but could easily spend another year with an extremely disorganized midfield completely unable to effectively transition from defending to attacking
This seems to be the way they are thinking. I think the organization feels that, were it not for injuries and retooling the roster with key guys leaving and their replacements never getting fully going (other than at GK), they would have been able to hit their stride and at least be a playoff team. So they've picked up some pieces to strengthen some problem areas - players who will be here from the start. They are relying on being able to integrate them with all the returning guys, and get them all into top form. If they do that, we should be a good team. Flawed but good, and capable of being more like the team we more or less were from the time Friedel was axed until last year. Hopefully they do have more up their sleeves at some point, but I think we've likely seen the extent of what we can expect for now as far as roster moves go.
Two weeks from today, the Revs will kick a ball in anger for the first time in 2023, when they take on Inter Miami in a closed door scrimmage.
FWIW, in yesterday's podcast, FDA said he thought that Vrioni was going to be 'really, really good'. And he was similarly enthusiastic about Borrero.
He's three years younger than Tajon, so his performances from last year should be compared against Tajon in 2019. He definitely looks more skilled and polished than Tajon at this point in his career and I expect a big jump in 2022 given he was adjusting to a new country and struggling with injuries.
Agreed - Tajon didn't always look like the Tajon we got to know and love in late 2020 and in 2021. I thought Dylan showed excellent potential last season when he was healthy. I am interested to see what he does this season.
I do think he's got questions about his durability - was last year an aberration or is he more resilient then he showed? I think he also needs to better integrate with other attackers, but for a new guy acquired mid-season who missed a lot of time, he made a reasonable start in that category.
One of the conversations I had with a few people during the facility tour ... we all have concerns about Vrioni panning out.
Revs heading to Sarasota on Sunday: Building a Foundation in Foxborough | Revs lay the groundwork ahead of five games in Florida Carles Gil, Brandon Bye, and Noel Buck speak about the work being put into Revolution camp in Foxborough, ahead of their three-week training trip to Sarasota, Fla. revolutionsoccer.net Video (2:45)
Revs take on Miami in just over 24 hours. I know preseason is just that and first games, especially. Yet, I'd still like to see the Revs make a statement in this year's preseason games - particularly by scoring goals. We have 4 players fighting for a starting striker's role and a midfield that should be able to provide the necessary service. Let's go!

Jeff Lemieux promised that there would be updates on all Revolution channels. I have no idea what he's talking about. I didn't see anything in the Apple/MLS app or the Revs website. Fortunately there is a brief recap here: https://www.theblazingmusket.com/p/report-revs-and-inter-miami-preseason?sd=pf Revs came from behind twice for a 2-2 tie, PK by Gil, then later goal by Jack Pana.
