Marcel Sabitzer to Manchester United, here we go! Full agreement reached on loan deal, no buy option — confirmed 🚨🔴 #MUFC #DeadlineDayDeal set to be signed with Bayern in the final hours as personal terms agreed too.Boarding completed - ✈️ Manchester @TurkishAirlines pic.twitter.com/tLpe5XNVtJ— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 31, 2023 Appears we were looking at him for depth already but now he will replace Eriksen. Seems a bit versatile so maybe will be able to allow for more rotation.
left it very late but https://www.skysports.com/football/...-midfielder-on-loan-in-late-deadline-day-move https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/man-utd-sign-marcel-sabitzer-on-loan-from-bayern-munich
pleased with this. at 28 he's just entering his peak and is versatile across midfield and we've seen first hand what he can do. as long as he can get going quickly it should be a good short term signing
Not as good a passer as Eriksen, but offers a little more on the physical side. With the way he strikes the ball should score more than Eriksen, theoretically.
Is the efficiency of this deal down to the Germans? I can't believe our front office would move so swiftly and find a similar player and pull the trigger just like that.
A negotiation is between 2 parties. You can't give all the credit to 1 side. I think Bayern wanting to work with Sabitzer probably helped. I think our need and our stance that we weren't going to pay a fee made it straightforward. It probably also helped that our first discussion with Bayern would have been about Gravenberch and once they rebuffed that approach, getting our 2nd choice was straightforward. I like the move. I think that for matches against teams who will have a good share of the ball, a midfield featuring Sabitzer and Casemiro is better than one featuring Eriksen & Case but when we are expected to make the running, we'll miss Eriksen's guile. Still, a terrific pickup to get what we needed at the last minute.
Our new midfield engine will wear the number 1️⃣5️⃣ shirt 👊#MUFC— Manchester United (@ManUtd) February 2, 2023
got a League Cup winner's medal and now a Bundesliga winner's medal. very good haul for someone who hasn't played that much for either club this season
If the gaffer wanted to keep him I wouldn't be opposed to it I think he provides a good squad option but I still feel like we need a passing eight and he's not the one so we will see what happens. But I would take him over Mount.
