They aren’t here because they love soccer or Columbus. So what other reasons are there?

And rich people are never rich enough, so yes I could see iow they want cheap real estate and property in the Arena District, for the cost of saving an MLS team, which is probably cheaper.

Didn't he also land a gig with the PAC10 a few years ago?

Jimmy loves that stadium. Every time I run into him on the concourse (a frequent occurrence before Watson) he kept walking around, looking at things, showing friends and family. I can only imagine how he will be if there a new one built in Cleveland.

Am I the only person who thinks that the Haslams saw the recent growth in MLS franchise values and are betting on the curve staying upward?

BTW, on Allocation Disorder they said that in the near future, potentially even as early as this season’s secondary transfer window, the internal transfer market will change. Clubs will be allowed to pay actual real world US dollars as a transfer fee to other MLS teams for players. I assume allocation money will still exist as well. Currently, using real money for internal transfers is banned.

That could really change things, especially for teams with ambitious owners. I’m sure the league will put some sort of restrictions on this, we’ll see.

I've been seeing this rumored around the twittersphere, glad to get some real world confirmation.

Josef is unofficially official to Miami.

He has one year left, plus an option for another. I’d imagine that if Miami picks up the option then he’ll be a DP in 2024. He’s TAM this year due to the buyout structure.

Man, I know there's only so many colors, and ours can't always solely be ours, but I hate seeing other teams (like Nashville...or rsl in this case) in full yellow. At least wear different color shorts!

Let me guess, we play them this year and we'll be wearing black.

Nashville irks me more than RSL, since it’s a primary color for them. What irks me the most, though, is how the Crew has flip-flopped on embracing yellow, the new stadium kit bring the most egregious example, but there are others (the ‘for Columbus’ caillou kit, the years where we had a yellow kit but inextricably seemed to prefer black as the primary choice). In every damned stadium rendering - like the latest about the VIP terrace area - every fan is wearing yellow. When renderings show the team, they’re wearing yellow. Yet in reality, could be yellow, could be black, could be some combo.

Since we’re the home team, we get to pick, and if we pick our home yellow, they’d have to wear their red (or “claret” as they say, but it isn’t claret; it’s red).
But, knowing us, the FO will want to promote the new, black jerseys, and an opponent will be wearing yellow in our house. Which, like Colorado in HCS a few years back, is unacceptable.

    Saturday, April 1st.

On 4/2/2022, we hosted Nashville. IIRC, we wore yellow that game.

I expect the Crew to be in the banana kits for the RSL game given that they deliberately wear yellow at home against Nashville.

Al Ahly is very good, regularly does well at this competition, and has been in season since December.

Seattle missed the playoffs last year and are playing their first preseason game lol.

    I’m not shocked.

Rumor that LAFC is interested in Aubameyang. If they sold Chicho, who was amazing, and bring in Auba… wtf are they doing?

Ugh. MLS may use 18-team playoffs; U.S. Soccer exploring new training center/HQ

"As reported by The Athletic early last month, all signs point to the league introducing a best-of-three series for the first round and transitioning to a single-elimination format for the conference semifinals and beyond. [...]

Sources provided The Athletic with an additional update this week, saying that, as part of the proposed shift to a best-of-three first-round, MLS is also considering expanding the field to include nine teams from each conference. If adopted, the eighth and ninth seeds would contest a play-in match, with the winner advancing to face the first seed from their respective conference in the best-of-three conference quarterfinals. This format would include a minimum of 25 playoff matches."

I'm an MLS sicko but no thanks to both of these changes.
