Easier said than done if on big wages - as we ourselves know so well … Chelsea are set to listen to offers for Christian Pulisic, Mateo Kovacic, Kalidou Koulibaly and Aubameyang in the summer whilst Arsenal are tracking Callum Hudson Odoi. (@JacobSteinberg) #CFC— Pys (@CFCPys) February 1, 2023
I think he has almost zero say, clearly. He's got to be as concerned with the next 6 months as 3 years from now. And he still doesn't have a striker or a genuine 6 (aside from the often injured Kante). In fact, they just shifted his next closest 6 in Jorgihno. He basically has no say methinks.
Independent: Why Chelsea’s obscene January spending is just the start by Miguel Delaney https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...r-enzo-fernandez-premier-league-b2273249.html I don't think Chelsea is alone in this thinking. The failings of Ed Woodward's logic re Phil Jones aside for a moment, I think the EPL will only dominate the transfer market even more in the coming windows. We could see players selling for 200 million on the regular and the figures could be even higher. Very hard to say if other top clubs in Europe can compete with that without going the way of Barcelona or Juventus. There's only so much funny accounting you can get away with. And we all know what the means... the $10-$20 a month we pay to watch will double. The merch, tickets, all double. Hopefully the economy grows so that we earn double, but I'm not that optimistic.
Wasn’t the new owner obliged to invest heavily in the team as part of the deal? Or is that some bollocks I read somewhere?

In addition to Badiashile (CB €38m), new guys Andrey Santos (CM €18m), DD Fofana (CF €12m) & Noni Madueke (RW €35m) also fail to make the cut. A lot of player investments on the sidelines. Auba an odd choice given DD Fofana too raw & Broja out for season. Get the character issues, but still … Auba clearly not in Potters plans - would have been sold, but apparently cannot play for 3 teams in one season owing to FIFA rules and cannot be reregistered by Barca owing to La Liga rules So looks like Felix / Havertz as #9s is where Potters head is at. Not been working out all that well though in the EPL ….

Look at the length of the new Chelsea players contracts and you’ll see exactly how Chelsea are getting away with this. Spreading out the spending. But they’re blowing their wad early. If all these signings come good, it’ll look great in the end. If any of these guys flop, good luck every moving them. They could be stuck with guys that are on 7 and 8 year contracts but don’t play. That’ll be hard to swallow.
Calvert Lewin needs to spend less time wearing dresses and more time scoring goals. Great chance missed at the end of the half that would’ve given them a lead over Arsenal.
