It looks like it's been moved to the Random thoughts thread. Probably not a big enough deal to get worked up over, however. And I would suspect that the cleanup was because there were a ton of posts that didn't have anything to do with the games on TV. My posts were removed too.

When reffing, I had a U9 boys playoff game in which the goalie caught the ball while just about to step over the end line, conceding a corner kick, but had the presence of mind to fllip the ball over his head, ran OB, turned around , ran back onto the pitch and picked up the ball on the bounce and punted it. Unfortunately for him, there is a ball possession rule that had been edited that year by FIFA to prevent this double possession type of play by GKs. I blew the whistle for the infraction which resulted in an indirect kick just outside the 6(which came t nothing after all the fireworks). The coach, a former goalie (by his own repeated proclamation) had to be sent from the pitch for his repeated profane protestations. At least this time I didn't need an escort to my car when the game ended.

The Problem (as Jon Stewart might put it): isn't to ask this question - as the US version of the Guardian posed it: This Stop did not "become" violent. This death & all the violence originated from a police unit who pulled a guy over whilst engaged from the *very beginning* of the interaction shouting, screaming and raging malevolent force and menace for absolutely no reason- and with absolutely zero intention, inclination or (at this point) ability to listen reasonably to the man. The problem is in who the police think they are.
Well, I was out all night tonight, trying to see the comet (c/2022 E3(ZTF)). We had mostly cloud-free skies here in SE MI, but no luck. I didn't put my telescope on it, so may have missed something really faint, but I did put my DSLR (with a tracking tripod head) on the north star, and tracked that for about 2hrs at ~55mm, but didn't see anything in the vicinity. The comet is supposed to rotate around the north star for the next several nights, so with that lens I'd expect to see it if was there. Maybe I'll see something when I process and stack the images, but definitely not even easy to see by eye/binocular. Certainly nothing like the NEOWISE comet we saw 2-3 years ago. If I am able to pull out a decent image from what I've collected, it'll be a fundamentally different type of comet in terms of intensity. Just to give an idea, 50mm is considered the same as normal vision, so I was effectively collecting the whole north quadrant of the sky. If I didn't see it, it wasn't visible to the naked eye (even if you were to integrate what you can see by 30 sec - so probably not even visible with binoculars). Again, it might show up when I take my ~2hr collection of light and stack it to increase signal-to-noise ratio. I think its just that the comet was a lot less than the mag 4-5 that they predicted. I did have some non-insignificant high level clouds move through while I was imaging, so we'll see how that impacts processing the images. But, in the end, even though I had decent skies tonight, I think I missed being able to image this comet for this 50,000 years... oh well on to the next (we have about 6-10/year) Did collect some nice images of the orion nebula with my new telescope camera. But I'll only show those if they are better than what I already shared for that nebula...
