Mundo Deportivo are reporting that La Liga have informed Barca they need to cut 150M Euros worth of salary before next season.

As things stand, Barca thought they'd renewed Gavi's contract, but La Liga rejected the contract because their spending levels are still too high. I think Gavi is still playing on his youth team contract.

They are also selling Barca TV to try and raise money.

I'm not exagerating when I say that if Madrid can win the league and we can knock them out of Europe at this stage, there's a real chance they are forced into a fire sale to simply keep the doors open.

How they are allowed to keep signing new players makes no sense to me. The hubris that exists within that club would impress even Donald Trump.

Hillarious really, why couldn’t they just have a few rebuilding years and not chuck hundreds of millions at players that are not working out for them

At this stage, they've already seriously harmed their ability to be competitive in the coming years. They have this fatalistic view that they'll always be competitive but if they were to have 2 or 3 years without champions league revenue they are going to be ********ed. Even with that revenue it wouldn't be healthy, it would still be them walking on the edge of a cliff.

At least La Liga somewhat enforces FFP laws. Meanwhile we have Chelsea, who just signed yet another player, with well over half a billion in transfers THIS SEASON.

Pool dump out of the cup by Brighton. It's quite something how far and fast they have fallen.

There has got to be someone from Chelsea we can sign for depth next summer. They would prefer to sell elsewhere I'm sure but wages will rule out many clubs and they absolutely have to sell.

In other news, Klopp is making some very questionable calls. His treatment/usage of Nunez is bizarre. Benching the CF with the elite xG per 90 in order to play a LW who has no idea how to play CF is not just unwise, it is actually stupid. There's literally no benefit to it because Gakpo doesn't have the skills or the knowledge to play the position. Even though he's technically proficient, he doesn't play well back to goal and cannot link play.

I was confused when Nunez came on and Gakpo didn't move out to the left.

That goal by Mitoma... three magical touches and thank god it wasn't an offside.

    for anyone curious

    the goal:

    the goals highlights:

    the aftermath:
Klopp said liverpool won't fall apart post game. that ship may have already sailed.

    the desired outcome:
sign up Mitoma. great age, direct, purposeful, effective, different to all our wide forwards. everything ten Hag wants from Antony coincidentally. someone Ferguson would steal the march on other big clubs and sign too.

not bothered by how much wide players we have either. compete and produce or accept the bench or move on. easily the most exciting young attacking talent in the league for me (we have more than enough data on Håland already)

A subpar half-season compared to his previous form is enough for Pep to let him go. You just know that City will be opening the chequebook this summer.

Big disagree on Mitoma. For starters, he's not some young attacking thing. He's older than Rashford. He's a neat player but it would stupid for us to pursue him when we have much greater needs.

Incidentally, the player Brighton have we should be all over is Ferguson. We need a CF, GK and CM in that order. LW is like 10th on the list of positions we need. We should buy 2 CMs and 1 CB in addition to the CF and GK that are necessary before we even consider a cheap amazing talent at LW.

Chelsea will have a fire sale. Unfortunately for us, they dont have anything we need.

And please stop mentioning Ziyech. They dont have any deeper lying CM's we could use. They dont have any CB's that are enticing unless we take Colwill. Their strike force is pathetic. Broja is prboably someone I'd look at, but not killing myself to sign him.

Goalkeeper situation is stupid and I'd have neither of thhose guys.

Everton, Leicester , Newcastle, West Ham better be looking at their dead weight.

I can imagine Pulisic, Colwill, Gallagher, all being good pick ups for Newcastle.

I hope the market absolutely rinses Chelsea this summer since everyone knows they need to sell. Make them give players away and be stuck with huge losses.

While they might be getting away with it now because of their circumvented the rules with longer contracts, that means if players dont work out and they cant sell, they could end up with quite a few Phil Jones's hanging out and collecting paychecks on really long deals.
