Greg is the master of mimicking communication by spouting impressive-sounding but convoluted and vague generalities. He often does this in halftime interviews as well.

Or be ready for that question. I feel bad for Greg on this because he's the only guy accessible to the media so he will be taken to task on behalf of all the FO cowards hiding behind him.

But you have got to know some local media guy is gonna catch you with the hey man, what do say to SGs that are organizing a boycott and what do you think about the Klein situation? But I understand, he's used to speaking about the team itself and not FO, company stuff. He should be honest and say that he is a coach and he respects the rights of fans to voice their opinions but he is there to coach the team primarily and to that end I want to impart hope to those same fans that this year blah-blah-blah. I mean so many things that can be said where he vows out the way and it's clear in his default position as spokesman for Galaxy he better get a few quotes ready because this will continue. Just be ready so as Dawdler mentions, you don't sound like a moron.

But shame of the FO for letting him out there to handle their mess. That is not his job.

I think he did think about the question before he got it. His "at the end of the day, we all want to win trophies" bit probably sounded pretty good middle ground in his head. But, in all reality, that approach is for like year 5 of a crisis, not year 10. In fact I think that line has been used before with regards to the nonproduction of Chris Klein in his leadership positions.

Just not good enough from Galaxy FO anymore (no matter who the messenger is)

Vanney is in a no-win position here. When you are trying to straddle a fence like that, you often end up with barbed-wire stuck up your gobbledygook.

They need to stop coddling Klein. It’s not Vanney’s business to answer these questions. We want Klein held accountable for the absolute cheap, bare bones organization he has created. It isn’t about wins and losses. It’s about the structure (or lack thereof) that’s keeping us from wind. Wtf do you mean there’s no video room? No real scouting department for years? Why?

That was my first reaction also, because it's true he's in a difficult spot, but other posters have made a good point. The fluffy gobbledygood answer is not a good look. A strong communicator could have done a LOT better.

If recent experience is anything to go by, I know I’m always super happy when my boss puts me in a position where I can’t win. I sleep well, I’m very productive, really happy to go to bat for them, definitely not looking at job postings on LinkedIn.

I agree. This is the party line and Vanney was prepared with it. It’s shorthand for “Klein stays so let’s shift the focus.”

I understand that they have a plethora of forwards.
Far be it for me to defend the undefendable front office, but many of these issues predate Klein. I don't recall Bruce having a scouting department and if you remember his first couple of years, he had signed some real non-talents (e.g Eduardo Dominguez, Carlos Cudicini, Alex Cazumba) in an effort to patch the holes he inherited. Under Sigi (and Klein) they did have a scouting department headed by Sigi's son (now the Technical Director of Real Salt Lake) but he left when the Galaxy hired DtK and GBS.

Now was it Klein's responsibility to recognize these failures and address them, absolutely. However, he strikes me as a go with the flow type of non-leader, who doesn't make waves and is a corporate "team player"/yes man. And yes I do think he should have been fired a while ago.

FWIW, I wonder if its even possible for Klein to comment on these things given his current suspended status.

    Hey, that's a great excuse.

As you all know, Klein is suspended right now and as he would personally like to talk to ya'll, sadly, he cannot. The club realizes that the fans want answers and Klein will endeavor to respond directly as soon as the suspension runs its course and he is looking forward to and would love a chance to address all grievances in his own words. Until then we ask that fans be patient with this process. :)

We have set out the Kool Aide for everybody in the lobby.

Yeah this is the guy that together with Manotas and Quioto killed our chances at the very end of the 2020 season? I forget. When they were already eliminated. But yeah, he was very effective on that right side back then. We need wingers and we could use with somebody like him if he has any gas left in his tank. Better than Costa in any event based on past history in MLS. La Panterita!

Apparently he may have a green card from his time in Houston (if Reddit is to be believed). That (and sega getting a GC) would help keep our options open in other ways.

he’s 26 so should have plenty in tank.

If he's the Grandsir replacement as a TAM player (and he has a green card) then that would actually be a fantastic signing.

Just as a heads up, the Isco speculation is linked to some random person on twitter claiming that his friend works for the crosstown rivals and they expect the Galaxy to sign Isco to fill out the rest of the Rose Bowl, which is apparently 80% sold out.

I wouldn’t believe this quite yet. Isco is also linked to Union Berlin.

He is a central midfielder right?

I hope the galaxy wouldn’t just sign the most famous person they could despite not fitting into the squads needs.

whom I kidding, of course we would.

I believe that you're right as his primary position, however, I remember him coming in as a late substitute for Real Madrid on the right wing. I can't recall anymore detail.

He's played some as a winger and 2nd forward over his career - but yes I think he primarily plays as a center mid.

Damn. Options are drying up. Vanney mentioned signings coming soon, but it’s alarmingly quiet.
