C'mon man, I'm celebrating a big win on Sunday and you throw this cold water on me

From the article: "Philadelphia may well be the ultimate sporting city, but it could find itself on the wrong side of history if the Eagles lose the Super Bowl later this month.

Incredibly, it could become the first city to have three consecutive sports teams lose in professional championship games, after its baseball and soccer teams recently fell at the final hurdle.

The first two occurred in the space of 24 hours in November, as the Phillies lost the World Series 4-2 to the Houston Astros, while the Union were on the losing side of a penalty shootout against Los Angeles FC in the MLS Cup final.

Yep, that was a harsh one ... the Phillies and Union losing on the same weekend was hard enough :)

    Someone should look up 1980.
Also The Philadelphia Stars lost in the title game of the USFL a professional championship game.

    In the article:

Wasn’t he in England for the World Cup? Certainly wasn’t in DC.

    Thx,

    Jay!

Well, the Union loss in MLS Cup was technically a draw decided on PKs

Is that the year the Lakers beat the Sixers, the Raiders beat the Iggles, and the...wait, the Phillies beat the Royals that year, didn't they? Did the Flyers lose the Finals?

IIRC, Sports Illustrated named Bradshaw and Stargell co-sportsmen of the year in 1979. So for a glorious period of 24 months, Pennsylvania was at the center of pro sports.

Penn State won its first national champion in the 1982 season over Georgia.
