https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/cardiff-city-ladies-shock-fa-26106743 Cardiff City Ladies produced the FA Women’s Cup shock of the weekend as they defeated Northern Premier side Burnley 4-1 to fire them through to the last 16 of the tournament. The Welsh club, who ply their trade in the fourth tier of the English system, were already the lowest-ranked side heading into Sunday’s fourth-round clash against third-tier Burnley. And their comfortable 4-1 win ensures Cardiff City Ladies are now the only team remaining from outside the league’s top two tiers, with seven teams from the Women’s Championship and eight from the Women’s Super League still remaining. A berth in the fifth round also sees the fully-amateur side take home £15,000, with the guarantee of another £5,000 in the next round and the prospect of £20,000 if they produce an even greater shock win. And Jamie Phillip’s side will now be eying a glamour tie with WSL behemoths Manchester United, Arsenal or Chelsea, the latter of which is home to former Cardiff City Ladies player and Wales captain Sophie Ingle.
Yep see wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashtag_United_F.C. They merged with AFC Basildon on the women side, so did not need to start at the bottom of the pyramid.
There is a YouTube channel of them with Alex playing with them. Funny team. Also the official YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/live/HoUvJgPpH1s?feature=share
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/64400397 Cardiff winning the round means they get some jackets! Should Cardiff upset the odds by winning their women's FA Cup fourth-round tie at Burnley this Sunday (14:00 GMT), the talk in the dressing room is that a slice of the prize money will be spent on new club-branded winter coats.
FA Women's Cup draw Charlton Athletic v Birmingham City Manchester United v Durham West Ham United v Aston Villa Lewes v Cardiff City Ladies Tottenham Hotspur v Reading Chelsea v Arsenal Brighton & Hove Albion v Coventry United Bristol City v Manchester City Had a look at the Hastag United vlog. Their FA Cup video is fun and then the way they behave on the pitch, spending their time moaning at the referee and fouling their opponent. Typical get stuck in stuff allowed by lenient referees.
Matchday 13 United and Arsenal drop points with 0-0 draws against Everton and West Ham. Chelsea and City win. At the bottom, Brighton overtake Reading thanks to their 1-1 draw at Aston Villa. And the suspicion that refs think Williamson doesn't have any arms continues to grow. An obvious, reckless elbow into Hemp's face wasn't seen as a red or yellow card.
I personally don't think defending Toone's second shove of Summanen into the pitch by saying it wasn't the Spurs' player's face but her shoulder is that strong of an argument. However, if it had been just that second shove, I'd understand the arguments for just a yellow. Toone made a poor challenge and shove worthy of a yellow preceding the incident though. A red was justified in my opinion, but maybe the ref could/should have shown two yellow cards. Would that have been possible?
I think the red card is justified for retaliation but Summanen getting nothing is unacceptable to me. She scissor kicks Toone who then reacted. Same things as Cissoko who got a 5 games ban after reacting to Mayling pushing her multiple times while Cissoko was walking back to avoid confrontation and the third time she just slapped Mayling and got a red card. Why referees in England don't look at the original fouls and only retaliation is just very english.
Yeah, maybe she did, but honestly, that movement from Summanen still looked largely natural to me. No excessive force, and moving her leg down from that position was a natural motion in my opinion. However, if Summanen "scissor kicked" Toone, it was a reaction to Toone clattering into her with a shove and challenging in a way that got Summanen's leg in between her legs. You can see Summanen holding her knee before she went to ground, and I think that was a genuine reaction. I can't remember; did Sissoko do something that warranted Mayling reacting like that? If Summanen did react, there was a reason for it as well; that was a poor, yellow worthy challenge from Toone. Yellow for Summanen and red for Toone would have been fair in my opinion.
Quite a few also calling it a scissors on Summanen but that's a silly definition of scissors. Sorry, but that belongs in a Ministry of Silly Scissors THIS GAME 🌶️🤯Ella Toone hits out at Summanen and is shown a red card 🟥Can Spurs capitalize?Catch the action on @paramountplus NOW 📲 pic.twitter.com/iaApDx85Or— Attacking Third (@AttackingThird) February 12, 2023
I think the ref got it right. First, Toone barges into Summanen--that was the original foul. Summanen then reacted with a fairly mild trip of Toone, who in turns pushes the opponent. Doesn't look like push is to Summanen's fact--hard to tell but looks lower. It does look like Summanen embellishes her reaction.
Don’t know if Katie McCabe gets a red card when she does something like this in terms of retaliation.
Big result in the title race with Arsenal now saying goodbye to their title ambitions Man City 2 Arsenal 1 Tottenham 1 Man United 2 United goes back top of the League, City goes third and Arsenal fourth. 1. Man United 32 pts pl 13 +26 2. Chelsea 31 pts pl 12 +24 3. Man City 29 pts pl 12 +15 ------------------------------------------ 4. Arsenal 26 pts pl 12 +19 At the bottom of the table, Jens Scheuer's arrival has not brought many rewards so far. Leicester are back in the game and there are now three teams under pressure. Brighton 2 Aston Villa 6 Liverpool 0 Leicester 1 9. Tottenham 9 pts pl 12 -9 10. Brighton 8 pts pl 11 -25 11. Reading 7 pts pl 13 -15 --------------------------------------- 12. Leicester 6 pts pl 12 -21
A five match ban for Cissoko (just as a comparison regarding someone who was provoked a lot more), a potential two match ban for Summanen, and I'm assuming Toone walks away with not even a yellow to her record. This is just ridiculous. Surely, they've completely ignored Toone's challenge that kicked everything off (trapped Summanen's leg, clipped her kicking foot, and pushed her all at once), and they're going to punish Summanen for something she would have just been shown a yellow for if the ref had suspected at the time she was simulating the contact from Toone. I don't know; I just don't like this decision all around. I think Toone should have at least gotten a one match ban for two yellow offenses, but oh well.
The FA and PGMOL have a lot of work to do to get the referees male and female to a good standard They have just sacked a male VAR because he could not do his job properly.
