I expect a few transfers in the next day or two as the deadline to make deals approaches, but this has been a disappointing window regardless.

I expected more coming off a World Cup. We played a tight rotation of pretty established guys, but still. This is worse than a typical window that's not after a WC.

MLS sold a lot of domestics last winter and didn't integrate that many new ones. There were a few holdovers I expected to move however.

Individually, they don't appear likely. We're not hearing much. Dike's transfer, for one, came out of nowhere though. So did Pepi's. They're more typical of loans. So that's what we may see more of. Those teams will have less skin in the game though.

its been disappointing for sure. at least thus far.

i think the WC matters less than it has to clubs in terms of transfers, though.

there have been a ton of rumors but doesnt seem like there's much actually going down. I guess the agents and (selling) clubs are more likely to be the ones fabricating the rumors mostly.

Silly season will really start to ramp up soon.
Gossip is starting to fly around. Take all rumors with an appropriate grain of salt.

The Union Berlin one is interesting, he really doesn't go to cultural backwaters. Just Amsterdam, Barcelona, Milan, and I guess Berlin, it would make sense in that vein and I like the fact that Berlin is a legit up and coming team.

    2019-2020: 11th
    2020-2021: 7th
    2021-2022: 5th
    2022-2023: 3rd (for now)

Pretty fun. Should be in Europe barring a total collapse.

Not a bad move assuming Bordeaux make it up. Thats a three horse race between Le Harve, Bordeaux, and Metz right now.

USMNT Players who need to consider a summer move….
    • Christian Pulisic, W/F, Chelsea (needs to go where he’ll be a starter)
    • Ricardo Pepi, FW, Augsburg > Groningen (needs to get out of Augsburg and upgrade from Groningen. PSV would be interesting)
    • Sergino Dest, FB, Barcelona > AC Milan (rumor is Union Berlin)
    • Tim Weah, W/F, Lille (rumored interest from Marseilles, needs to go where he’ll start as a winger or forward)
    • Gio Reyna, W/F, Dortmund (seems to be frozen out)
    • Brenden Aaronson, W/F, Leeds (depending on relegation)
    • Weston McKennie, MF, Leeds (depending on relegation)
    • Tyler Adams, MF, Leeds (depending on relegation)
    • Chris Richards, CB, Crystal Palace (needs to stay healthy but deserves more PT than Palace offers)
    • Zack Steffen, GK, Manchester City > Middlesbrough (needs a permanent switch)
    • Ethan Horvath, GK, Nottingham Forest > Luton (needs a permanent switch)
    • Matt Turner, GK, Arsenal (needs to consider a loan)
    • Gabriel Slonina, GK, Chelsea (needs to consider a loan)
    • Konrad De la Fuente, Marseilles > Olimpiakos (I would consider MLS at this point)
    • Matthew Hoppe, FW, Middlesbrough > Hibs (I would consider MLS, at this point)
    • Samual Rogers, CB, Rosenberg (never going to break into USMNT in Norway)
    • Joshua Wynder, CB, Louisville (Benfica?)
    • Jonathan Tomkinson, CB, Norwich > Stevenage (I would try MLS at this point)
    • Justin Che, CB/RB, Hoffenheim (needs to get healthy but go somewhere where he’ll play. Should probably consider coming back to MLS.)
    • George Bello, LB, Bielefeld, (too good to be a 2.Bundesliga bench player. He would start for most MLS teams)
    • Kobi Henry, CB, Reims (The foreign adventure seems to not have worked out. I would bet he could break in a MLS club)
    • Erik Palmer-Brown, CB, Troyes (Time to come back to MLS. Atlanta United should make a move for him if Miles Robinson leaves)
    • Miles Robinson, CB, Atlanta (Should give Europe a go.)
    • John Tolkin, LB, New York Red Bulls (I would consider a club in Netherlands, Belgium, or Portugal, and I’d go sooner than later)
    • Caleb Wiley, LB, Atlanta United (I would go to a bigger club in the Bundesliga that would be interested in his development as a project)
    • Johnny Cardoso, MF, Internacional (Should consider a move to France, Netherlands, Belgium, etc.)
    • Alan Sonora, W/F, Juarez (Juarez was always the wrong move for him. He should have gone to MLS. Atlanta would suit him well)
    • Tanner Tessman, MF, Venezia (Get out of that sinking ship. Try another European club)
    • Gianluca Busio, MF, Venezia (just come back to MLS. Atlanta United could really use the help in midfield)
    • Christian Cappis, MF, Brondby (go to MLS)
    • Emmanuel Sabbi, W/F, OB (go to MLS)
    • Brian Gutierrez, MF, Chicago (sky is the limit. And he’s already too good for MLS. Should be considered a top teen prospect in the world and there are only a handful of clubs that he might struggle to be a part of. He should become a very special player).
    • Duane Holmes, W/F, Huddersfield (would like to see him in MLS)
    • Julian Green, W/F, Greuther Firth (I’d like to see him in MLS at some point in his career)
    • Brandon Vazquez, FW, Cincinnati (He needs to give Europe a shot. I’d recommend the Eredivise first)
    • Jesus Ferreira, FW, Dallas (give Europe a go)
    • Haji Wright, FW, Antalyaspor (let’s see if he can succeed in a better league, but I could see him in MLS too)

But they might be looking at more creative and technical players given they will be playing in Europe and will not just be able to batter people with ultra-direct play. This could be a great landing place for Dest. It’s a team playing in Europe, but one where he should have every opportunity to get major minutes.

I’d love to see more US players look at moves like this if clubs are interested.

Dest will be one of the more interesting transfer sagas this summer.
