I'm really intrigued by Waibel at Seattle. nothing about what he did at RSL warranted that type of promotion at Seattle. Maybe under the right ownership group he'll do better, but in my opinion the decline of RSL coincided with his arrival as GM

I’m really torn on him too. I think the real problem was that he would negotiate and DLH would refuse to counter-offer to seal deals.

Also, he had very little faith in the academy and Monarchs.

I think his time at Seattle will show if he has what it takes.

He put on Twitter that he applied for a job with RSL after contacting them before doing so. At the time of his story, he hadn't been contacted at all. What is going on?

That thread of tweets was bizarre. I understand he's hurting, but don't throw your prospective employer under the bus like that. It just reads like high school drama.

Andy has proven not to be a reliable narrator of events. RSL under Del Loy wasn’t either.

Whatever is going on, RSL could use his talent evaluation skills. It's too bad it can't be worked out. He'll help a team if he can be in their scouting department.

May I ask who Andy identified back in the day? I honestly have no idea.

How about the kid Andy wanted to sign for the Monarchs that is playing for Liverpool.

Who is that? Again, I honestly don't know. There's no attempt at a gotcha here. And I am willing to do my own work. But I went through several hundred results on Google with some combination of Andy Williams, Liverpool, and Real Monarchs to no avail.

Is this like the Piatek story where, sure, RSL could have hypothetically swooped in but then assumes RSL will give the same development platform these bigger euro clubs have to reach their potential???

Rusnak is the big one I remember. Not sure if he was involved with Kreilach. Then there are a bunch or Twitter rumors. I think we should also give him credit for Adam Acosta and Jared Borgetti. (Who was the scout before Andy?)

Yes, but that could be said of lots of players. Identifying players is one part, making sure they develop and progress is another. Andy appears to be able to identify quality players.

MLS is getting really close to challenging some European nations as a top league (outside of England, Germany, Spain, Italy and France). Now, it may never have that appeal, but it will be a good league, capable of developing young players. It may never allow teams to become something like Bayern or PSG, but top to bottom will have parity. I'm pretty sure MLS is going to show very well vs Liga MX this summer.

I think the RSL door is closed to Andy as long as Fall is in a position to keep it closed.

Good. Let someone else bite that bullet. ~$2m fee apparently. I want no part of that.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I posted on Twitter that if both players are healthy, I think Rubin has better goals/90 numbers this year.

Also, we will know exactly how to defend him. In my heart I want him to develop into a Bundesliga-worthy striker. But, realistically, this move should be to our advantage.

Rubin outscoring anyone is a bit of a reach.

I think that there is no way that happens. I think that the odds are higher that the league has Rubio figured out but, and this is a big BUT, you could argue that with the way RSL seems to be stocking up on midfielders that Rubio has a chance to score more goals this season because he is supposedly a "poacher".

Straight up goal scorer I take Sergio every day. Poaching some goals then maybe Rubin is a better answer. We shall see.

Cordova isn't a clear starter at VAN and will have to figure out a new club, too.
Rubin is fit and is the likely starter day 1 for RSL.
Musovski isn't healthy and Julio is an enigma in regards to position and minutes.
    Paul and Kei are ?
RSL will score more goals this year and I think Rubin will be a key part of that total.

Happy to admit if I'm wrong, just my pre-season prediction, with the roster the way it is right now. Lots of bodies for the position; I'd be a bit surprised if they bring in another player for that spot and even then, it takes time to integrate players at RSL (for some reason).
