I was hoped that after WC, which he had good time for rest and recovery, and especially after bad opening for the season, that Benz will come very eager to prove his BTO winning and play good, but the truth is that, he is in decline and that worries for the rest of the season
Whole team is sluggish. Physically he is fine, his passing and decision making have been sub par. I'm not worried
In general, getting the most out of a bad moment is a good thing. The complaining and crying like we're supposed to be omega man blasting teams out the stadium for the entire season is quite ridiculous.
And unrealistic, no other team is capable of this either, i thought the same thing when i read how with a younger midfield we'd just run all other teams off the park.
The goals are one thing but he's literally punching down at times and accentuating the issues in midfield and defense with his woeful passing.
For Benzema's whole career many people couldn't care less about his contribution to overall attacking play and just wanted to see him as a box goalscorer. They should finally be happy, as Benz seems to have the smallest range of movement in his career right now. He is still linking up in the final third, but he drops deep or to the wing lot less frequently than before. However his finishing seems as sharp as its ever been.
Which is why I think Benzema should be deployed as a poucher that eats and sleeps in the box with very limited action in link-up. We are asking too much of the guy, it's not his fault that his body is failing him when Flo and Carlo adamantly refused to reinforce the team with a backup or even utilize Castilla. It's a crime to expect him to once again be our lone superman in the Liga, CdR, UCL, and the Club WC.
That's just how Benz likes to play, he's closer to retirement than he is to stop coming deep to link up with the midfield and defense.
🚨🎖| Karim Benzema is expected to miss the next two games, this is the plan. He should be back for the Club World Cup final*. @JorgeCPicon— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) February 4, 2023
🚨 Karim Benzema feels very ‘fatigued’ and has been for a couple of weeks. @diarioas— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) February 4, 2023
Age is catching up. I doubt that he would be the same player again. We need to rethink about his role.
🚨 JUST IN: Karim Benzema will NOT play vs Osasuna on Saturday. He finished the game with discomfort and won't be risked before Liverpool. @AlbertoPereiro— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) February 16, 2023 Again injury Too many games missed this season
Imagine this guy had played in the World Cup. Tried to convince us he was perfectly fit for that, we're almost 3 months beyond that and he's still not fit. What.
