shoot, Pizzutto would be an upgrade over Herrera.

Is this dude the biggest bust since Pablo Barrera?

Dude chose the wrong path twice. That’s on him and his agent.

Braga has ended the loan early and sending hin back to Betis, yet Betis doesn't want him either. So back to MX?

Certainly on his way and quite possibly an even bigger bust because of the talent level and expectations. Too early to bang the gavel and rule him to be a bust since he’s still young, but if he doesn’t turn it around he’ll forever be asking himself what could have been had he done the obvious and gone to Ajax. This will be his girl he let get away.

He keeps switching club due to being unsettled, he is showing the symptoms of a failed young prospect. This move to Braga was a good opportunity for him to develop, but he blew it. He needs to change his attitude and be a little more humble.

Omar Arellano is what he reminds me of. All the talent in the world, he just can't put it all together and over values himself.

Based on reports, Braga offered him a spot on the starting XI based on the fact that Horta to Benfica was seemingly a done deal, making Lainez his direct replacement. But shît hit the fan when the Horta transfer fell though.

Sure, there’s a bit of bad luck in there. But eventually Lainez has to fight and win a spot in the XI. Couldn’t do it at Betis and couldn’t do it here either.

Based on expectations and age, maybe bigger? Dude’s only 22 and already on the verge of busting in Europe.

He’s always the weakest guy on the pitch, always the slowest, not exactly athletic, etc. Pure talent is not enough imo.

Pablo Barrera had a knee injury, recovered, and ultimately paid his dues with UNAM before going to Europe. Calling him a flop is not really fair. Lainez has done nothing.

What is the obsession with comparing players? How many teams did Gio and Vela need to go through before doing well and in turn producing for the national team

Realistically though: Laínez's biggest attribute is his dribbling and frankly he's too small and weak to take on bigger/faster guys.

The problem is exactly his strength. He can't seem to figure out a way to play outside of it and tactically to the coach it's a waste of a spot to have a guy that insists on trying do 1v1 only to lose the ball more than half the time.

I'm not going to call him a bust, but he needs to reinvent himself. He has time.

What was obvious has now been officially confirmed, Lainez's loan to Braga was terminated early. He's heading back to Mexico, most likely to Tigres.

Back to Liga MX mediocrity, what a setback for him. Hopefully he learns his lesson and is given another chance that he will do something with this time.

Guess it’s safe to say that Lainez was a flop that never measured up to his potential

It’s pretty telling that each club he went to in Europe the dude just ended up riding pine. Perhaps this setback will be a humbling lesson for him. Hope he turns it around in Tigres but I won’t be holding my breath because that’s where young Mexican players go to rot
