They have spent close to $500 million just this season - with more on the way allegedly.

Lol. You crazy if you think Pulisic is coning to MLS in his prime. Man United and Juventus are interested. I’m not sure why they’d want him and I’m not sure why he’d go to either team, he just be warming the bench somewhere different.

How bad must Chelsea be to not score on this Liverpool? How bad must Liverpool be to not score on this Chelsea? Time to throw more money at the problem. Greatest league in the world, they say....

I thought the running joke that The Crew should sign Pulisic was well known.

They are bad right now for more than one reason, as is Liverpool.

Goncalo Guedes returns to Benfica after 11 years and scores on his re-debut. Another Enzo Fernandez assist on the first goal today. Just Benfica doing Benfica things. What a club.

One goal in 13 games at Wolves (most appearances as a sub). He was also acquired by Wolves before Lopategui came on, and I don't think he saw use for him. He came on a bit before the 70th minute today and scored in the 80th.

I don't anticipate him starting ahead of Goncalo Ramos (who also scored again today). But he's definitely going to be useful as a second half sub and depth as Benfica is still pushing in Champions League and Taca as well. Benfica has lost Rafa Silva to injury for a month, and Julian Draxler has offered next to nothing since coming on loan from PSG, so it's a smart move by Rui Costa.

And really it's a great vibes move for Benfica as well. All the fans are behind it. They haven't won the league in 3 seasons. Seeing Guedes come back to be part of a Champion side would be wonderful. After his goal today Guedes was all smiles and pointing to the crest. Enzo Fernandez had another MOTM performance and was all smiles throughout and pointing to the crest with his award afterwards. Rumors of discontent within Benfica from know nothing English journalists and fans were surely overblown.

Chelsea is pathetic. Wasting all this money. What a joke. I’d be embarrassed if my club spent half a billion pounds just to be in 10th place.

You can never expect Chelsea fans to be embarrassed. They embraced shamelessness when they embraced the Russian Oligarch. Pathetic sums it up.

If they pay the whole 120 million there isn't much Benfica can do. You just hope Rui Costa holds out for the whole release cause.

Great match today between Roma and Napoli. Roma left everything on the field, but just didn't have enough. After a 75th minute equalizer, I always felt it was a matter of time until Napoli scored. Their 3rd choice striker Giovanni Simeone had an 86th minute winner.

Napoli's squad depth is terrifying. It feels like they carry 43 players all of whom can impact the match. They now have a 13 point lead for the Scudetto. They recently beat Juve 5-1. Milan is falling apart. Inter is inonsistent as can be. The scudetto is theirs.

As a direct rival of Roma, I should be upset by this. But truthfully I hate all the stripes more. And beyond that, I can't help but be happy for Luciano Spalletti. I wish it was with Roma, but he deserves this. Truly a world class manager who never got his due. Now he'll be Champion of Italy. Daje Luciano.

I didn’t realize Cholito was playing for Napoli now. You think this is his ceiling? Bench player on a CL team or starter for a Europa League team?

Probably? He's genuinely one of those players I've loved and rooted for from the moment I saw him. But I've given up expecting the breakout season. He just wound up at Fiorentina at a bad time, and of course Cagliari was not a good place for him. He was very good last year at Verona. And to be honest, being a 3rd choice striker at a Scudetto winner is probably the best thing for him. He'll come out of it with confidence, he'll be a champion, and because De Laurentis eventually won't want to pay his wages he'll make more and get more time at a 4th - 6th place team in Italy or Spain in the next 2-3 years.

Situation is what it's always been. Schmidt and Rui Costa have always been consistent. If a club pays the release clause he's gone. Chelsea tried some bush league shit earlier in the month attempting to work through the media, bully Benfica and not pay the release clause.

They now come back, worse off than they were in January as a mid table club, admitting that their current project is a total failure, with a manager in over his head, backing up Brinks truck, desperate to save face.

Enzo likely moves today. Chelsea recognized the utter failure and humiliation of their first approach and now are willing to pay about 20-30 mil more than their initial approach. It'll likely be in installments, but it will get done.

It's unfortunate, but good business for Benfica to make a 100 million profit on a player they bought just last summer. It's unfortunate for Enzo to be likely playing in Europa League next season while his former club teammates and World Cup teammates are under Champions League lights, but he will more than triple his salary and likely move to a bigger and better club than Chelsea within 5 years. It's a big win for the reddit and twitter brigade of Chelsea fans who never understood the transfer dealings, the workings of a release clause, or knew who Enzo was in August. But they will fetishize Boehly for his money like they did their Russian Oligarch.

I wish no ill will towards Enzo at all. He's a great player and he's made a larger impact on Benfica through his play and the funds that he's brought in in 5 months than he's likely to make at Chelsea in 5 years. Onward. Carrega Benfica.
