Sounds like Busio might be transferring to Pisa, which currently sit 6th in Serie B.

Can't vouch for the reliability of these sources, but see here and here.

I'm not sure I understand why a team much higher up the table would want him, given that he's regressed this season.

Busio subs on in the 64th minute of a 1-1 draw with Cittadella in a relegation 6-pointer.

there’s a pretty obvious answer to that question

Which is...? It's not obvious to me. The only thing that I can think of--and it's a stretch of the imagination--is that Venezia is hoping that Busio will play well and gain promotion with Pisa (on loan, of course), and that Pisa would then want to pay Venezia something approaching what they paid for Busio in the first place.

That Pisa don’t feel he has regressed, or at least he can help them?

It's likely the case that Pisa would think he can help them if they are indeed in for him (note: both of the links about this posted above by @KALM are very brief and shallow), but it's not particularly "obvious" that he can, as was your assertion.

the obvious part to me was that if Pisa are in for him THEY THINK he can help

Not-in-Pisa Busio comes on in the 57th minute, replacing Tessmann in the middle. Pohjanpalo with a 70th minute winner lets Venezia jump off of the bottom of the table in a relegation six-pointer with Benevento.

Busio joins the fun in the 89th minute, with Tessmann and Novakovich already on the field in a 1-1 match with Pisa.

Busio gets the start against Cagliari today. Scoreless first half, Novakovich on the bench, no Tessmann.

Busio went the distance in a scoreless draw that included going down a man late. Seems like he had a solid performance.

Subbed off at the half in favor of Cheryshev, which may mean a tactical change. Statistically, seemed to have a decent half and forced a good save on Venezia's only shot on goal, but you never want to be the one subbed off at the half.

Busio makes the squad for the first time in 40 days, today against Reggina. Nice to see him healthier.

Can't believe Busio gave up competitive football for Lent. That's a choice.

Busio subs on in the 54th as part of a double sub, trailing 1-0. Joins Tessmann on the pitch, Novakovich on the bench.

Busio on as part of a fresh legs triple sub. Extended the lead from 3-0 to 5-0 since he came on.

And with three games left, while Venezia could still get relegated (extremely unlikely), they're only a point behind the playoff spots. There are 8 teams in the 43-46 range.
