Here is a true story....In a game around 1980-81, the Vancouver Whitecaps played the San Jose Earthquakes where Peter scored 3 goals. After the game, Earthquakes star Geroge Best asked Beardsley "what part of Canada he was from"? Peter responded, he was from Newcastle. At that point Best arranged for hm to get a trial with Manchester United and the rest is history. All thanks to George Best and the old NASL.
