Having to play pretty much 90 minutes with 10 players will do that to a team… and by the way, a god damn bogus second yellow, which resulted in a red. Straight garbage officiating.

Nice season-opening win by Tigre today, 1-2 away to Estudiantes. Retegui with both goals. I thought for sure a European side would have picked him up by now.

This match also has a special meaning for myself. My family both sides support Central.

Interesting. And how do the family members feel about Carlos Tevez quitting as trainer after only a few months?

Central seem to focus on developing their youth, giving lots of playing time to youngsters such as Gino Infantino (54 LPF matches and still only 19) and Alejo Veliz (36 caps and only 19).

A chunk of my family still live at home, however, the ones I see and speak to regularly here in the States were a bit perplexed with the hire. They were also not a fan from the get go and were happy when he left.

Makes sense. Seems that Tevez was a celebrity hire; not sure how serious he is about becoming a certified trainer.

1-1 at the half. Two nice crosses for headed goals, Komar for Central and Retegui for Tigre.

Commentators mentioned that Retegui is a loanee from Boca Juniors and they are surprised that Boca didn't recall him for this opening competition. I can easily see him leaving for Europe this summer.

Commentators on Paramount+ kept saying Kevin Mac Allister helped Argentina win the World Cup.

Colidio is also having a great match.

Retegui is on loan from Boca, but with a buyout clause. Tigre apparently already informed Boca and the player’s agent that they will be utilizing the clause (approximately $2.3m), but haven’t done so since he still has one year left on his loan deal. However, as of now he is still signed to Boca (who surprisingly didn’t activate the clause for him to return early in January) and until nothing is officially signed he will continue to be a Xeneize.

I’m assuming Tigre are waiting for an offer from abroad to arrive in June, so they could use that money to pay the cheap clause and then make a profit on top.

Yeah, they were talking about the entire Mac Allister family, but did mention that Kevin played at the WC when it was Alexis (of Brighton & Hove). Francis plays for Central. Where does Kevin play?

Thanks for the clarification. Still puzzling why Boca wouldn't recall him expecting him to lead the league in scoring for this opening tournament, and being to sell him onward in June.

I’m pretty sure he plays for a team in Chicago but then had a stint in NYC. He got on a wrong plane or something.

    He plays for Argentinos.

Wow, what an end to the match! Central score on a corner, last play of the match, to tie it up 2-2.

Not surprised that he's on the radar of a Manchester U-whiner fan. They run through strikers like the rest of us run through toilet paper.

But, to live in Manchester, England? Come on ... Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, there are a lot nicer places for Retegui to live.

Rosario Central beat Arsenal 2-1 at home in a match that also had 3 red cards. Malcorra with a brace of assists on Francis Mac Allister and Veliz goals.

Rosario Central eek out a 1-0 home win over Godoy Cruz from a Malcorra PK.

Tigre win 0-2 away to Belgrano on a Retegui brace, who is now on 6 goals from the 5 matches.

And Talleres stay at top of table (presently) with a 2-4 win away at Platense. Their Uruguayan striker Santos scored two goals and assisted on the other two goals in that win. Outstanding match for him, I will catch the highlights of that match this week for sure.

Tigre going through a bad patch now, three straight losses and no goals. Retegui still stuck at 6 for the season.

On the other hand, Rosario Central put together a decent performance, beating Huracan 0-2 away in Buenos Aires. Victor Malcorra had an excellent match with a goal and the assist on Veliz's header. Campaz, the Colombian midfielder, is beginning to gell with his teammates and picked up his 2nd assist. Malcorra now has 2 goals and 4 assists in their 8 matches.

Tigre will want 25 ME for Retegui. Half will go to Boca. They just may get that,‘particularly after scoring v England. Some English club could play it but Italian teams will go after him as well.
