Nice pass from Ferreria, good run from Hoppe. On his left and the angle wasn’t tremendous but you’d like to see him do better there.
I’m assuming they are playing him as a false 9 because he’s so deep and then looking to feed Hoppe/Arriola. We’ve gotten one once chance from it.
I would take that bet. Brenden has an elite ability in his pressing/relentless. He's got his brother's sauce, putting off a defender. Better vision than his bro. Paxten's a better finisher I suppose. Brenden was also a good EPL, before the WC break. Regardless, you're tacitly admitting that your perception of his performance today is being conflated w/ your long-term opinion. He's been bad.
Right now, Paxten still looks like a kid playing against grown men in an adult league. I strongly suspect that will change over time.
He's gotta have some serious off-field issues, because I watched more crappy Schalke games than I want to admit to and the guy can play. We've seen what happens to strikers on horrible teams (Hi Jozy, Hi Pepi, Hi Josh) and Hoppe managed to score some fantastic goals. I laughed when he passed that off to Aaronson earlier, trying to be the good teammate, and then watched that whimper of a shot. 10/10 he's gonna shoot in that situation from now on.
I feel bad for Tolkin having to play on the same side as Long. Hoppe gets in good positions and then doesn't do shit. Aaroson physically overwhelmed. Not much positive to learn from this so far.
I really didn’t think we had other options as CM depth so was ok with Acosta in 2022, but he really just seems to not exist or get overrun or not get on the ball? Even in a game like this. I don’t really understand.
Acosta always looks like he's trying to figure out the theroy of relativity before he takes a free kick.
I like that the youngsters are getting caps and time. I don’t hold them to the same standards at this point. Bitching about results in this situation doesn’t make sense to me.
