He has always been better than Depay, not only now. I never understood why recent coaches played always with Depay up front when they had a real Striker.

Memphis is much more versatile though as he can play all across the front and as a number 10.
He’s not a traditional Center Forward target man 9 but he’s pretty good.
Has generally done tge business for Oranje too as his strike rate speaks volumes.
Unfortunately for Memphis he gets killed for his time at Manchester United which was not all on him, but it is what it is.
Barca was not treated right here but he was good when he played. Very dysfunctional period for Barca.
Weghorst gets little respect from some sections of the uninformed media, but the truth is the man has had a very good scoring record and brings some quality and soft feet for a 6’6 guy.
Excellent production at Wolfsburg who played some pretty good football as well.

    Argentinians obsessed with Wout.
That christina dude with his remark that that Argie player licha (= lisandro) at united can call him bobo, the insult messi threw at Wout, doesnot realize that that Argie probably is too chicken to do that ... you know ...Wout ... about 2 meter ....Argie dude ...midget size...

I think he could also feature as wing back in conte system where he has been deploying Persic.

Van Gaal had actually mentioned that before but then when it came down to it he had his Love Blind on the left while Dumfries had the right side.
Koeman Part 1 tried the Russian based Quincy Promes in that type of role.
Don’t think Quincy will be coming home anytime soon considering his legal issues.

Memphis rides bench today after coming on late midweek in the Cup match vs Real Madrid.
He better wake up and get himself going.

El Ghazi has no business being in the Oranje squad. I thought I read awhile back he was going to represent Morocco.

The Noa Lang play is fun to watch for all the comical slipping and sliding in a muddy field. First his Brugge teammate cutting in from the right wing attempts to blast a shot on goal. Unfortunately his plant foot slips in the mud, and he makes only glancing contact with the ball. It bounds into the box, where another Brugge player takes a goalward swipe at it. (He either missed or barely touched it.) The ball continues toward the left side of the box where Lang keeps his cool (and his footing in the mud!) and knocks it into the net.

The plays starts at about 0:18:

'Simeone laakt gebrek aan ritme Memphis: basisplaats Nederlander ver weg'
    Gisteren, 23:04

Malen's future at Dortmund is starting to look blink from development perspective. pretty much joins the list of other players who faded after moving abroad. i remember he was seen as Depay successor some times back when he was in eredivisie.

That keeps Atletico in the race for a CL spot.
I hope Simeone regularly starts him now

Gakpo just scored!! His first in Liverpool color... easy tap-in. He looked so relief and happy. I hope this breaks the dam, and more goals will come soon from him!!!

Absolutely should as he’s better than what they have. Problem for Memphis is that he’s not a traditional 9. Needs that freedom to drop into the hole or go wide.
    Excellent in combination play.

Looked pretty good. Drew some fouls and his movement was good.
Liverpool badly in need of upgrades in midfield.

It’s nice to see Gakpo is given the license to roam, he seems to be more dangerous in CF position (vs. LW). He is fast, slippery, and incisive. There’s one nice run that he escaped a couple of defenders, and nicely presented Nunez with an opportunity to score (shot was wide, and very poor finishing in the end ).

Noa Lang had a very good game today, but Club Brugge fell to Benfica due to two massive defensive errors (the second was committed by young Dutch LB Meijer). Lang was theoretically the CF but he drifted a lot to the side and even dropped deep. Almost like he played in no. 10. Very active in the attack with his trickeries and dribbles. His passing was excellent. His defensive efforts were relentless.

Could be an interesting option for Koeman in the AM position (please sunset Berghuis and Klaassen!). I think if I had to choose, the race for that spot would be between Simons and Lang. Both are fast, energetic, creative and play with swag. Simons is inexperienced obviously, so Koeman may be taking it easy on him.

BTW - Wijnaldum is also back in training after a long injury lay off. I don't know if he's still considered an option... I am a fan of him over the years, but he is now old and probably should make the pathway for the youngsters.

It's hard imaging both Simons and lang playing together in the same team. Just like vaart and sneijder.

I hate reading comments like this. Pliz dont forget about noppert. You have to take risks, this is what's one of the drawbacks of dutch football.
