I hope Carlo keeps trusting Camavinga and Ceballos. They're really giving the team a boost of energy that we need. Modric and Kroos together, unfortunately is no longer viable. It feels a bit like the end of an era, especially after Casemiro left. They just can't work as hard as they used to and it shows. But the youngsters stepping in are doing great. We need to keep building on the long term prospects of this club. Valverde also needs some rest.

Carlo is still trying to be diplomatic and trying to keep the veterans happy. But I can see he's trusting them more.

Carlo is falling into the same mistakes he always made. His lack of trust in young players and inability to transition the team is the reason he got fired previously.

He was actually falling into these same habits last season but injuries saved us and forced his hand on key matches and situations

Carlo is Carlo. No coach is perfect. Of course he is going to do what he's done his whole career. He will win and lose this way.

I'm glad for the year we got to experience last season I really wouldn't mind an underwhelming season considering our aging team and the world cup in the middle of it. I've never felt this way about our team before. Either I'm still hangover of the greatness we witnessed last season or I'm getting older.

Very unlikely. It would take amazing turnaround of the season. Barca basically exposed our team and honestly, i wouldn't be surprised if we only win CdR. Carlo is one of those coaches who goes supernova one season and inevitably burns out the next. Still, we love him because he's a class act and picks us up when we need us the most. Partly it's our aging midfield, partly it's our utterly sub-prime fullbacks. Dani Carvajal will be the rightback for Real Madrid until the dude is in a wheelchair or using a cane. Ferland Mendy is so bad. Idk wth happened to the LB we saw from his first two seasons. He has somehow gotten stupider and it explains why he didn't make the France WC squad in Qatar.

There is no other capable coach to manage us that is available.

    Zidane isnt returning yet.
    Tuchel won’t last a season
    Poch is poch

not even interested in others right now but if we do sack Carlo (which would be absolutely ridiculous) then I’d like to try for Arteta

If we lose the league and get knocked out early in the Champions League why should he stay?

The team has regressed and he isn't showing any progress with the young players. After last season you'd want to see the younger players start taking more significant roles. Instead we've seen them take a back seat.

We're on pace for 91 points right now, which actually stands as an improvement on last year's 86 point record (I realize a little bit of that is taking the foot off the pedal once La Liga was a done deal). We hit a little bit of a rough patch there for a few games in a season with a very unusual schedule that really didn't do us any favors at all, playing twice a week every week from the first int'l break until the World Cup, and pretty much continuing to play twice a week since then as well...it's just been extremely compacted given that this club is involved in every competition possible...it shouldn't be a surprise there was a dip in form. We're just losing our minds a bit because Barcelona's on a 101 point pace right now. We knew they'd be better this year than a year ago with all the changes, but everything meshing this perfectly for them so quickly was more than we expected to happen. It's frustrating and having a top-form Barcelona changes the calculus immeasurably.

This time a year ago, it was already a coast. 42 points through 17 games, which was only one point better than where we are right now this year, but that was 13 points better than Atleti and 18 better than Barcelona. Atleti's basically in the same spot now as they were then and are a non-factor in the La Liga race barring unexpected events*, but Barcelona's gone from 24 thru 17 games to 44 thru 17 (now 47 after today). Almost twice as good. And we've beaten them in the only league meeting we've had thus far, so we've done our part when possible. Everything else about that is beyond our control. Atleti lost at home to them without Lewandowski. Osasuna led 1-0 at home and played the last 60 minutes 11v10 and ended up losing outright. Stoppage time winner at Mestalla. It is what it is. All of Barcelona's rough form thus far this season came in the Champions League games. Hopefully they have a similar-ish Europa League run as they had a year ago, in that they last long enough to have the schedule wear on them a little bit, but they ultimately fall short of winning the competition. Otherwise, if Man United knock them out, it becomes very easy to imagine Barcelona being able to play once-a-week and have their best XI and win the league entirely on the basis of being more rested. It's how the last two Serie A champions won the league, by skipping European football entirely in the second half of the season.

*I am aware that Real Sociedad is only three points behind us and we meet tomorrow, but Real Sociedad has done this many times, have a good first half of the season, occupy a CL spot into the second half of season, even be close enough on the table to be mathematical contenders for the title...they've tailed off in the second half almost every time, and I have no reason to think otherwise this time around. Maybe they'll surprise me. My general view on Real Sociedad would be that, if we find ourselves concerned with them in the table, then the title probably isn't in the picture at that point.

Arteta is Barca scum. Plus he’s managing all young players, what’s he going to say to Benz, Modric, Kroos, Alaba, Dani, ect…

I’m all for Xabi when the timing is right. He’s going to be a phenomenal coach.

Ancelotti peaks the team at the wrong time just liked his last tenure. In the 2014-2015 season, Modric was injured and that caused the job. This time, he has Qatar to blame, but we are not the only club with players participating in the WC Finals. having said all of this, we have seen this happening with other coaches before. For some seasons, we did turn around. Liverpool will be very tough. We have them as our bitches for long. They will seek revenge, but again, we are their jinx team. We are only one win behind Barcelona in the league. Let's see what happens in February.

Meh. He barely played for Barca. We also signed Figo who in turn ended a Real Madrid legend.

Arteta is more of a Everton legend lol

We have young kids coming through. Arteta seems switched on and good enough to bring them through. Arteta is a solid option for me.

Xabi hasn’t won anything yet. Jury still out.

what has Arteta won? Besides, he’s never coming here anyway, due to his Barca DNA.

He’s won the FA cup with Arsenal.

Basically, what he’s done with that Arsenal side in the space of 3.5 seasons is low key remarkable.

Now they are on the path to winning the first premier league in 20 years.

    Figo has Barca DNA
So did Kubo - he walked straight from their academy to us

He’s probably thinking having same/more points this season as compared to the last is going to gift us a title. Really weird argument to make your point after drawing a game that took your team 5 points behind the leaders.

Bring back Zizou, buy Osimhen and Porro and/or Alphonso Davies, and unleash the avalanche of crosses to VO and KB like back in the good old boring days:D

it is still premature to think of a replacement for Ancelotti but i just want to say this now. Raul is probably better than Solari, but I hope he does get thrown into the driver's seat next season. Xabi Alonso is not ready yet.

    Yeah. But thats a rebuild.

No coach of Madrid would survive that long without trophies.

Considering how Arteta has his young players playing then he might be suitable for the job here in the future.

Rigjt now, we shouldn’t be complementing firing Carlo.

If Perez doesn’t come out guns blazing in the summer, this is probably the end of him.

Shame on Carlo for saying what he did about the penalty. I'll take the lost and him not using younger players, but this... some poor personal relationship skills...

Didn’t Rodrygo score an important pen in one of the CL final?
This quote would demoralise any player.

Ancelotti: "The penalty? I chose Asensio and not Rodrygo because we thought about his missed penalty at the World Cup. It could affect him."
