With the news that DCFC is moving into USL, I'm starting a thread. As for the development, cool. I still have a local team to support. That's all that matters to me. And it probably would've happened regardless. That said, excited for next season.

Detroit City FC Pending league and federation approval. Striker Billy Forbes comes to Detroit City for his sixth season in the USL Championship. Forbes made 25 appearances with seven goals for Miami FC a season ago. He has appeared in 115 matches at the USL Championship level since 2017 with 30 goals and 18 assists. Forbes’ previous stops include Austin Bold (2020), San Antonio FC (2019, 2017) and Phoenix Rising (2018). After playing his prep career at Western Texas and Lubbock Christian, Forbes joined up with Mississippi Brilla and WV King’s Warriors before signing with the San Antonio Scorpions of the NASL in 2014. After 50 matches played with the Scorpions and a league title, the organization ceased operations following 2015 and Forbes moved on to Rayo OKC. Forbes was born in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, and has scored eight goals in 15 caps with the national team since 2008.
First home game of the season and a win. First half was a bit of back and forth with Charleston's biggest chance a shot that hit the post. 2nd half Detroit scored and nearly scored another. Charleston had a moment where Steinwascher nearly got overwhelmed but they weren't that threatening. All in all, weather was meh (Can Messi do it on a cold rainy afternoon in Detroit? ) but good to get the first win.
Detroit City FC (USL Championship) 3, Michigan Stars FC (NISA) 0 https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...-first-cupsets-of-2022-lamar-hunt-us-open-cup Center-back Matt Lewis took center stage by scoring on both sides of halftime in the first Open Cup match between these two former National Independent Soccer Association rivals at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck, Mich. A pair of headed goals off corner kicks late in the opening half turned the contest on its head. Connor Ruiz scored in the 45th minute for Detroit before Lewis duplicated his feat with another header two minutes into first-half stoppage time. Lewis left no doubt for the hosts, connecting off an eight-yard volley in the 63rd minute. Michigan lost goalkeeper and captain Tatenda Mkuruva to an injury in the 29th minute as Paul Lewis replaced him. The teams, only a few miles apart, had one of the more intriguing NISA rivalries before Detroit City joined the USL Championship for the 2022 season.
Needless to say, I will go to this. A chance to rag on a team from Ohio? I'm in. Get ready, City faithful.@ColumbusCrew comes to Keyworth in the third round of the @opencup! Stay tuned for tickets and dates!#DCTID pic.twitter.com/PR1ZWmVKdC— Detroit City FC (@DetroitCityFC) April 8, 2022
