Another Trump lawyer takes the heat while Trump keeps his own head (just) above the scum line. Trump lawyer faces disbarment as California Bar hits him with 11 charges Two years after penning the infamous "coup memo," the California Bar Association is recommending that former Chapman Law Professor John Eastman be disbarred. http://www.calbar.ca.gov/About-Us/N...plinary-counts-by-the-state-bar-of-california
Wonder if Putin would let trump move to Moscow. Nah. Trump on Truthsocial. Putin and Russia Good. FBI. CIA Bad "Remember in Helsinki when a 3rd rate reporter asked me, essentially, who I trusted more, President Putin of Russia, or our 'Intelligence' lowlifes," he wrote. "My instinct at the time was that we had really bad people in the form of James Comey, McCabe (whose wife was being helped out by Crooked Hillary while Crooked was under investigation!), Brennan, Peter Strzok (whose wife is at the SEC) & his lover, Lisa Page. Now add McGonigal & other slime to the list. Who would you choose, Putin or these Misfits?"
Trump paying off Stormy Daniels during the 2016 campaign is being presented to a NYC grand jury. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/30/nyregion/trump-stormy-daniels-grand-jury.html John Edwards was charged with a similar crime back when he paid off a campaign staffer to hide their affair during his presidential campaign, but was found "not guilty" on one of the charges and the remaining 5 were declared a mistrial and the charges were later dropped.
So federal prosecutors in Manhattan are apparently presenting the stormy Daniel’s trump case to a grand jury right now. They already secured a conviction of Cohen in this case so that investigation was basically complete. Which is interesting. If I take lefty legal twitter at their word…this was impossible to do two years ago because somehow when you’re charged with a federal crime you get access to discovery for completely unrelated federal crimes you’re also being investigated for( at least that’s how I understood the argument) So if that’s true…there are few possibilities 1)the damn is about to break and trump is going to get indicted all over the place 2)the other federal investigations came to nothing and this is all the DOJ has left or is willing to move forward on 3)the Manhattan DA got tired of waiting for Garland and said ******** it…let’s do this.
The Manhattan DA has been investigating this since 2018... If you'll recall, Michael Cohen plead guilty as part of a deal to provide evidence against Trump for this..

So this is Alvin Bragg….NY state case. So nothing to do with garland/DOJ. Just Bragg realizing if he doesn’t get off his ass and do something his chances of getting re-elected are zero. So option 4….Merrick is still either a coward or complicit

Cy Vance was investigating Trump for financial crimes. His investigation was nearly complete when he left office, So complete that the career prosecutors that were working on the case resigned in protest after Bragg intervened shortly after coming into office. Now….two years later….Vance suddenly starts investigating a 6 year old campaign finance crime that was so complete that the feds have already secured a guilty plea of his co conspirator….and we’re supposed to think this is just the normal way investigations play out? GTFO of here with that tin foil hat shit. He’s dropped the Cy Vance investigation.
I have never understood how the stormy case wasn't prosecuted once trump was no longer president. It seems open and shut to me. Trump's only defence is that Cohen is lying and somehow Cohen did all the bad stuff and Trump never knew about it - which seems difficult to believe.
Because Trump will never, ever face the music. Nobody is brave enough to face the entire Republican electorate.
In what way was he brave and in what way did Barr spike? Trump was unindictable until after he left office…when Barr had already left office. Barr isn’t at fault for the DOJ’s failure to prosecute for trump crimes in the mueller report. Garland is.
Barr is the one that pushed the whole "unindictable" thing. He sought the legal opinion, just as under Bush, the AG (Ashcroft, Bybee, Yoo) sought an opinion that "legalized" torture. Another DOJ could take an entirely different tune.
I would've expected a full-throated pushback in the media from Mueller after Barr's phony, ass-covering summary. But alas, he's still a Republican.
While another DoJ could take an entirely different tune, the tune of the original DoJ would be evidence number 1 for the defense. The defense would, quite easily, argue that the case is purely political because the laws didn't change, so, the only reason why the new DoJ is pursuing the case is political retribution.
