Players we've signed for our Primavera: Lorenzo Sgarbi (Classe 2001) - Striker, $890k from FC Suditrol Samuele Vianni (Classe 2001) - Striker, $428k from Virtus Entella Agapios Vrikkis (Classe 2001) - Right Winger, Free Transfer from Padova Alessandro Zanoli (Classe 2000) - Right Back, $1.71mil from Carpi Marc Tsoungui (Classe 2002) - Centre-Back, $171k from Team Vaud. I like that Guintoli seems to have brought over the players he rated highly from Carpi
Last year our U17 team played very well, came 2nd in the league and had the best defensive record We went to the Quarter Finals due to a 2nd place finish in the League and we beat Fiorentina over 2 legs. We lost 2-1 in the Semi Finals to Roma. Standout of the season: Antonio Cioffi was our top goalscorer (14 in 24 games) and top playmaker (5 in 24 games) as a 15 year old. He is 16 now as he turns 17 in December but he has now been promoted to our U19 team. He's from Caserta, 6feet tall and plays as a left winger. If you look him up on Youtube, he doesn't have a highlight video of this past season but he appears in some of the game highlights and he seems way too good for that league. Let's see how he does with our U19 team
Kid was a beast for the U17 team The jump from the U17 to U19 is huge, a much bigger jump than the one from the U15 to U17. Hoping for the best but we always come top 5 in the U17 league but we've only come 10th and 11th for the Primavera League in the past 2 years. Who knows, we made a few buys for the primavera squad.. It'd be nice to have a great youth setup but we've been in the UEFA Youth League (The Champions League equivalent of Youth teams) for a few years but never qualified past the group stage.
The youth team opened the season up with a 1-0 win over Torino's primavera who finished in 4th place last season. (By comparison we came in 10th last year). Highlights from the game:
Quick summary from last season: Primavera: Not great, narrowly avoiding relegation - It took the playout to avoid going down. Thankfully, you don't need to have a strong team to have a player or 2 that has the potential to make the jump. From this group, the most promising (aside from Zanoli), is Giuseppe Ambrosino. 6'4" striker from Procida. He was part of the Italian u19 team that made it to the semi finals earlier this year. Played 30, scored 17, and assisted a further 5. When you consider how poor the team is, this was a great return. U17: Not a great year for them either. Coming 5th when there should be no excuse to not come top 3.
Ambrosino has been sent on loan to Como in Serie B. #SkyCalciomercatoDay #SerieB | Il @CalcioComo ha chiuso per l'arrivo dell'attaccante classe 2003 Giuseppe #Ambrosino dal #Napoli https://t.co/TAmrS3Wywp— Gianluca Di Marzio (@DiMarzio) September 1, 2022
Primavera went out of the Youth Coppa in the quarterfinals to Roma on Wednesday. Roma is top of the league table and Napoli in the playout zone, so probably not a surprise.
With Atalanta's draw and Napoli's loss this weekend, Napoli Primavera will finish in 16th place, the lower playout spot. This is the second year in a row that Napoli faces playout.
It's ridiculous how poor our youth team is given how much talent comes out of the area. I know where we started from 20 years ago, but I feel the youth facilities should see some more investment.
Because Napoli finished 10 points behind Atalanta, the relegation playoff was canceled and they were directly relegated this week.
So Giuseppe Ambrosino may be someone who may get a loan to a side in Serie A next season. un attimo, un attimo.fermi tutti.ma che cazzo di assist ha fatto ambrosino?https://t.co/yBsZGylle3— Orly El Mítico (@orrrrrrlee) May 31, 2023 Had a beautiful assist on Baldanzi's goal against England in the u20 World Cup.
I'd prefer Salernitana take the chance on him. He'd be much cheaper than Piatek + they can use those wages on keeping Dia
