Hmmm. I have not received or seen any emails telling me that coal trains, climate change, or border detention centers are Never Again events. But I sure can't defend any of those statements.

But I will say that concentration camps do not equal the holocaust. Yes, holocaust victims were in concentration camps, but so was my father during the Korean War. Concentration camps do not inherently equal genocide. It is theoretically possible to condemn Latino children being placed in versions of concentration camps without making an equivalency to the Holocaust.

It’s a slight distinction, inbetween Japanese internment camps in the SW during&after WW2 and Uighur camps in China currently.

for the love of Pete, you can’t help yourself

after the comparison to Concentration Camps she invoked the ‘Never Again’ slogan

If you don’t get the Holocaust from that than you are doing so deliberately

My significant other who died 4 years ago last week was named Pete and I do love him, thank you.

Given my experience with conservative "news" sources, I read the context for the quote. Here is what it says:

In other words, she was saying "never again" to fascism and made it explicit she was not referencing the Holocaust.

I know, reading comprehension is not your strong suit, mindlessly repeating right-wing talking points is.

edit: here's the difference between us - you get outraged over what you are told Democrats could have said or did (despite the actual evidence of what they did say or do), whereas we get outraged over the evidence showing what Republicans actually said or did.

While there were many cases of bravery in Nazi-occupied Poland during the Holocaust, today's Wingnut-ski govt doesn't want any research into those who may have collaborated.

The case took place in a tense political climate, with critics accusing the nationalist government of attempting to whitewash Polish history and discourage academic inquiry into cases of collaboration.

The Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial and various Jewish organisations and researchers from both sides of the Atlantic condemned the defamation trial

is this the actual video where she says concentration camps quickly followed by ‘never again’?
difference between the what people actually say and what other claim they say indeed

despite what you tell yourself, you are the one that is trying to control people’s free speech
you want to decide what is acceptable and who can speak on what matters
I don’t know what you call that in your imagination, but in a liberal and free society, that sort of behavior is frowned upon

Oh you poor thing. Have you considered buying BigSoccer so that you can control what people do and don't say, just like Elon and Trump have done when their "free speech" was restricted on the internet?

But thank you for thinking that I am so powerful that I can single-handedly force BigSoccer to do my bidding with no justification or evidence at all. You poor persecuted person, how do you manage to get through each day?

You will forgive me if I don't take your word over that of Jewish people as to what is offensive to Jewish people.

But I do enjoy it when you express your righteous indignation on behalf of persecuted groups, just as you did trying to defend gays a couple weeks ago (despite the fact that what you were railing against on behalf of gays was not offensive to gays). This time you are heroically coming to the defense of Jews! The funny thing is though, Jewish people don't seem to share your outrage over AOC's comment, evidenced by "Never Again Action".

Their website reads "Never Again Action is a Jewish-led mobilization against the persecution, detention, and deportation of immigrants in the United States."

    They go on to say:

I also read the "about" section of the website, which directly cites the AOC comment - it states:

So you will forgive me if I don't take your word over that of Jewish people as to what is offensive to Jewish people.

    Yo, (anti) Semite!

Trump is seldom careful about who he offends — tossing out jibes, insults, and threats with reckless abandon. He is more than willing to lash out at cultural elites and the people he calls “disloyal Jews” who support Democrats. But Trump has been consistent in his reluctance to offend what he regards as a crucial part of the base that he has nurtured over the years. He is unapologetic about associating with overt neo-Nazis, and unwilling to issue full-throated denunciations of antisemitism. Trump is willing to draw this barrage of opprobrium for one simple reason: He believes that he has tapped into something in the American electorate, especially among evangelical Christians, who have ingrained — but complicated — attitudes toward Israel and Jews.

    And these are his people.

Oh well.......That will be one more fail for Qevin.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) vow to block Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN.) from sitting on the House Foreign Affairs Committee has hit an early snag: he may not have the votes to do it, The Hill reports

    GOP war on furries!

    https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out...th-students-are-identifying-animals-rcna67304

North Dakota Republicans have introduced an anti-trans bill, which also includes a section to ban any school from "accommodation that caters to a student’s perception of being any animal species other than human". They are doing real legislation based on the totally made up story of kitty litter for student bathrooms.

My condolences to you and to all furries.

Yeah, yeah, I know you are "not" a furry. Got it. :whistling:

This is absolutely insane. Are Republicans who do things like this actually this stupid or is it some form of performance art for their base?

If I were the Panda Express chain restaurants, I'd be getting nervous as to how Republicans will come after them. It's bad enough they're Asian, but they're also deadly Furries, so they're going to be in deep trouble.

This brings to mind the bad old Middle Ages days where laws banned people from having sex with animals, Jews and someone of the same sex. Yeah - those three things were all lumped into one because, well, Christian "morality".

I didn't put this in the Trump thread, because it's really about the failure of Republican voters, who somehow have failed to realize that Donald Trump is an obvious clown. This National Review writer -- National Review, my Lord! -- states the obvious -
