Everything about Mexican soccer is depressingGrupo Pachuca tenía apalabrado a Marcelo Bielsa.
How can you follow futbol and think Marcelo Bielsa is a good option in 2023? How can we expect Bielsa to stick with a 4-year project when he literally quits jobs on a whim these days? The answer is Almada but we can’t have nice things so it’ll end up being Piojo.
Not much really, he gave a public interview saying he would definitely accept the job, he would build the team around youth and leave a few veterans as support and not base, that he sees a ton of talent in Mexico to believe he can transcend with them otherwise he wouldn’t accept the job. Also said he has a release clause and pachuca wouldn’t stop him from joining the team as was rumored. I’m with the other guy, I would go with Almada over Bielsa in 2023. If it had been the osorio era or martino era i would have gladly liked to see Bielsa coach but as I’ve said before - when vergara wanted to hire him he told him to his face that if he accepted the job, the next time he would want to see his face is the day he leaves, I can’t see how he would even consider accepting a job in which a lot of decisions are made by the federation, sum, and now apparently some director from gallos blancos who are all likely mingling into the national team with the players promoters etc. Almada knows Mexico well, is currently winning etc
If you want to see actual structural change in Mexican soccer, then Bielsa represents a commitment to making structural change. Bielsa’s style of play remains even more relevant nowadays in the fast-paced, physically demanding world of elite soccer Obviously not with some failure from Querétaro and Pumas, though, apparently and Grupo Pachuca iced out of the decision-making process I’d much rather Almada to Piojo or even Jimmy but Almada is going to definitely not put up much of a fight to whatever goes on at the FMF and Bielsa does. I like what Almada is selling and enjoy Pachuca as well but what we need is deep structural change and Almada just isn’t that unfortunately If it’s Piojo, think I’m done. Going to become one of those annoying “it’s all the pochos’ fault” guys and demand that people yell the chant at the stadium guys
How are neither of the Regio teams involved in this? They’ve been, arguably, the two most successful clubs of the last 8 years and just nowhere near the decision-making process and we got instead casino magnate Hank Rhon on there who hasn’t done squat shit in a decade none of the Monterey clubs truly give a shit about the national team lol. I’m biased, but what he did with santos…built a liguilla team with kids, convinced me he’d be perfect for the nt. I think dude knows how to milk the most with what he’s got. If Mexico is to go farther they need to punch above their weight. I think Almada can get them to do that.
F it, bring Rafa as head coach with Jimmy, LaVolpe and Pardo as assistants....well Pardo in some capacity, maybe not a field assistant but a player personnel guy
Why should the clubs have any say as to what goes on with the NT? Shouldn’t the FMF have a separate branch that focuses solely on the NT without any club interference?
No one even questioning this This is one of the most toxic things out there Clubs will never be able to separate their business from NT business, and the two are not always compatible It's an obvious way for jerarquia to creep into decision making as clubs seek to promote the profile of their players
We honestly going back to piojo? A guy that has had zero success last decade basically. And a mental midget in games
I don't even care. The fed is clearly not interested in systemic changes, so whoever is there is just there to pull something out of their ass and, with some luck, make some sort of decent run at the next WC. So why sacrifice Almada, who's far more useful where he is now in an organization that has its shit together.
If Piojo is truly back as the NT coach then I am done After the shit World Cup we just had I am already numb as to what goes on with the NT and the idiotic decisions FMF keeps on making Why bother?
Because a WC run is a WC run. Stay in Pachuca to do what? Win the Leagues Cup? Play Al ain in the Club World Cup? Supposedly the rumors are strong that he might take the job at Ecuador if Mexico go with Piojo and then you will have a B coach just like the NT
