Pretty horrendous imo. I don’t think Edwards is as good as people are trying to make him out to be honestly, just the general lack of talent on this team makes him stand out on occasion. Doubt we’ll sell him for more than 20mil, even with the English tax. I honestly don’t get it. 45mil is pretty cheap, especially considering the market for talented wing backs, even more so one that can play in Contes system. Just pay it or watch him go to Chelsea or Real, just like how it played out with Bruno Fernandes. Daniel Levy is a dummy.
You're giving Varandas too much credit as a negotiator. It's also a wasted season and who knows what Porro is telling them.
My weekly Fran Navarro update - scored 2 more for Gil Vicente, 11 goals in the league, ahead of Taremi and 1 behind Ramos. This guy is practically screaming to be signed by us...
Representatives are in Denmark today to meet with Midtylland (curiously our next opponent in EL) to negotiate the purchase of 19 yr old CB Diomande. The ivorian defender is on loan to Mafra but apparently has been a revelation and could cost between 4-5 million. Another name has surfaced to potentially replace Porro, this time it's Milan Van Ewijk, Dutch U21 international that plays for Heerenveen. Rumours that Nice are interested in Nuno Santos, the 27 year old has been one of the best performers this season, but Sporting would be willing to sell for around 20 million. He arrived at our club for 3.7 million. At the time I remember questioning the deal, but hes been so crucial for us. If he does leave hopefully it's in the summer.
Understand Tottenham and Sporting will hold new round of talks for Pedro Porro today. 🚨⚪️ #THFCTottenham are offering €37m fixed fee plus add-ons, discussing about one player to be included as part of the deal. pic.twitter.com/3auRVV6I74— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 24, 2023
Indeed it's turned into a hot topic for Fab Romano. New update: After Danjuma deal done, Tottenham scheduled new meeting on Wednesday to sign Pedro Porro — last proposal for €37m was not enough. 🚨⚪️ #THFCSpurs hope to convince Sporting using add-ons and/or player in the deal — been told payment terms will also be crucial. pic.twitter.com/J9rZwHlWVn— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 24, 2023
New rumour is we've raised our offer for 19 yr old CB Diomande to 7M + 1.5M. The Danish club has rejected our offers of 4m, 5m and 7m for him apparently, and are demanding 10 million euros. Apparently there's interest from Arsenal and other clubs. This guy must be identified as a real gem if we're paying this much, but even if he is, how are the board justifying spending this much on a CB when we still lack a striker...
I don't get it man, Benfica got by far the biggest prospect in Norway for 10mil. Were gonna pay the same thing for a defender no one has ever heard of? Probably for 50% of his pass too.
I think 14 mill is what they paid. Apparently arsenal and marseille want him, could explain the inflated price Also, if st. Juste wasn't broken I don't think we'd be going for him.
Please at least wait until the Saturday final... would be the most Sporting thing ever to sell a crucial player before a game vs Porto (Matheus Nunes) Understand there’s growing optimism on Pedro Porro deal. Tottenham hope to get it done as Sporting are already exploring the market for replacement 🚨⚪️ #THFCFinal details being discussed but all parties feel it could be done soon after today’s meeting. pic.twitter.com/LJi3mXTWYK— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 25, 2023
Positive feelings for Tottenham after meetings all day long for Pedro Porro — the deal is really close, parties are now on crucial details 🚨⚪️ #THFCDiscussing will continue in the next hours to get it done and sealed. pic.twitter.com/MfGFzsMeau— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 25, 2023 More on Pedro Porro. Understand new round of talks between Tottenham and Sporting on Thursday to get the deal sealed — it’s now ‘really close’, at key stages 🚨⚪️ #THFCAll parties feel it could be done in the next 24/48 hours. Payment terms are the final point of discussion. pic.twitter.com/ZlXp0m8Wrb— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 25, 2023 From the above, it seems like they're negotiating the terms of the payment. Spurs are willing to pay 45M but not up front in cash, like most deals they want to pay in installments. The Athletic reporting we are interested in loaning Lamptey from Brighton for the rest of the season. 🚨 EXCL: Sporting Lisbon have approached Brighton & Hove Albion about signing Tariq Lamptey on loan. With #SportingCP right wing-back Pedro Porro getting closer to #THFC move, they’ve contacted #BHAFC to discuss taking Lamptey as replacement @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/8OsdC0OIWE— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) January 25, 2023
Why bother with a loan? Not like we're playing for anything, give Esteves a shot, nothing to lose really.
Tottenham tying up the final bits and pieces of Pedro Porro deal — been told payment terms are now the last step as €45m fee could be paid in three or four installments ⚪️🏁 #THFCPorro has agreed five year deal with Spurs weeks ago — he’s waiting. Here we go expected soon. pic.twitter.com/maVfhPwzKY— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 26, 2023
Was reading that City gets around 15mil from this deal. The construction of this squad is comically bad honestly. It’s impossible to get ahead when you don’t own any players contract, and there’s hidden fees in everything. It’s gonna be a bleak few years ahead, Porro was pretty much the last player worth anything that we owned and turns out we still have to pay City. We need like at least 7 major signings in the summer to even be competitive for top 3.
Most of the players we bought we don't own 100% of. The only players we fully own are from the academy. Mendes, Nunes and Palhinha we got everything for. Pote, Ugarte, Trincao, Edwards, Vinagre we own 50% of, Porro, Nuno Santos, Paulinho we own 70%. Pretty sure most of the other players we have bought we don't have 100% on. Also, we've made tons on sales recently, combined with CL money, you'd think we wouldn't be suffocating with an apparent lack of funds. Then I remembered to check who we bought recently: Ruben Vinagre - 10M for 50% (valuation of 20M, complete flop we're gonna loan out for 4 years) St Juste - 9.5M which can rise to 12M (hardly available) Porro - 8.5M for 70% (worth it based on performances but we only bought him this season) Sotiris - 4.5M (flop so far, Amorim even said he would loan him out but he's already played for 2 clubs, shambolic) Morita - 3.8M (good signing so far imo) Arthur - 4M (still not sure what this guy does well) Rochinha - 2M (flop) Trincao - 3M loan, next season 7M to buy him for 50% (so far, not great, but I feel he and Edwards play the same position) Pedro Porro’s contract as Tottenham player will be valid until June 2028, five year and half deal — and not 2027 ⚪️📑🔒 #THFCSpurs and Sporting are closing in on the payment terms in 2/3 installments and then… done deal. All parties confident to get it done. pic.twitter.com/Os5cG5AaPr— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 26, 2023
lol missed that about Sotiris, that’s hilarious From that list, Morita has been pretty great id say, especially for that price. Do we have his full pass? Would be great to buy up the rest of Ugarte pass if possible, I can see him going for 40+ mil eventually. No one understood the Rochinha and Arthur signings when it happened, don’t think anyone understands them now.
Arthur, Rochinha and Sotiris would have been 10.5 mill, that could be an excellent striker for us if scouted right.
At least it seems like this time we will keep the player to face Porto tomorrow. But it definitely seems like it's his last game tomorrow. The deal seems to be for 45M but Spurs don't want to pay up front in one lump sum, so we're reportedly trying to squeeze in at least a part of the rights they have for Edwards as well. Pedro Porro to Tottenham, matter of time. All parties expect the deal to be completed and then officially sealed by the end of the weekend 🚨⚪️ #THFCTottenham and Sporting will meet via intermediaries also today to sort the final details. pic.twitter.com/RK60vltL0x— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 27, 2023
Rochinha was signed to fill the gap from when Sarabia left. Obviously well short of Pablo’s quality, but there was logic in the signing. Problem is he’s another one of these guys like Iuri who looks good at other clubs in Portugal but just doesn’t cut it here. Reminds me like when we brought in Ruben Ribeiro, same punchable face and everything. But I agree, it’s money that could’ve been better spent elsewhere especially combined with some of the other poor signings.
I think Trincao was the big bet to fill Sarabias shoes. There wasn't a tonne of logic behind signing Rochinha.
Also not a ton of logic behind signing Trincao for €10 on loan with an obligation to buy for a shit ton more. Dude had 6 months of good soccer and has been dog shit since then. Rochinha cost barely anything. Trincao cost more than 3X more and is even more useless.
