I obviously have no proof, and am just talking out of my butt, but here's my theory on this guy... 1.) At one time, maybe even today, the shooter worked as a delivery driver. He's hit several areas, and knows all the escape routes. He doesn't need to take 95 or Rt.1 because he knows the backroads and how to get around them. Shutting down the highways is a nice try, but it won't work. 2.) The guy works the night shift. Based on the time of most of the strikes, it's either later in the evening before he goes in to work, or in the morning after he's just gotten off work. So, that narrows the list of possible suspects to about 10 million, but I thought it was worth putting out there... And yes, I think there's 2 of them...1 spotter and 1 shooter. I think it's going to be a citizen who steps up and solves this thing. The cops are doing their best, but can't predict anything because there's no real pattern, geographically. As frightened and mad as we all are, we need to be aware of our surroundings. Somebody will see SOMETHING soon, and it'll be the break the cops eed. Be safe everyone!
Slightly off here, but something reminded me that the Wizzers changed their name because it promoted violence - ummm, it's not the name.
The NYPD would not have hung up on the Sniper 5 times. I bet he is hiding in Rock Creek Park. No way the cops will find him there. That was probably harsh. I just have very little confidence in the people handling this case right now. This would still be an almost impossible case to solve even with the best cops in the world.
Well the first thing they need to do is stop treating this like a criminal case. They need start using the same techniques that the military uses to hunt snipers in a war. You can't treat this like a bank robber, rapist, or cat burglar. That is part of the reason why this continues to drag on. The police are trying their best in a difficult situation but they need the right help. IMHO
The search going on in Tacoma right now reveals that good old-fashioned police work is going to crack this case. My guess is that something in the letters and/or phone calls led the to search this house.
Fox News Channel is talking about another search that might take place somewhere in Alabama. The cops all over the country are involved here.
Be on the lookout for a blue or burgandy colored 1990 Chevy Caprice, with New Jersey tags NDA-21Z Two "people of interest," a John Allen Williams, aka John Mohammed, who is 40 years old, and a John Lee Malvo, 17 years old. Apparantly, Williams is Malvo's stepfather.
Both have been reported as being picked up at a Myersville, MD rest stop off I-70, just west of Fredrick @ 3:30am!!!!!! You have gotten me on this one Mike but it looks like I might have been right with the terrorist connection. While no details have been released yet, it is being reported that Mr. Mohammed is a recent convert to Islam. Both of them also have been reported as being sympathetic to the 9/11 attackers. So ultimatley we were both right and both a little wrong. The most important aspect is that it looks as if this nightmare may finally over.
Crossposted from the Free For All forum It seems like the fact that there's a "training camp" near where they looked in Alabama is a coincidence. There was a shooting in Montgomery, AL, at a liquor store. On September 21st, when the place was closing, the two women who worked there were shot, one fatally. A credit card was stolen. Later, when the demands were made to transfer $10,000,000.00 to a credit card, it was the same number as the one that was stolen in Alabama. Apparantly someone also told the tip line that they should look at the shooting at the liquor store in Montgomery and connect it to the sniper. Whether or not it was the sniper who called with that tip is unclear. When they looked at ballistics, apparantly the bullets used in Alabama were the same as those used in MD, DC and VA. They found a fingerprint on a gun magazine (something like Guns and Ammo, not a magazine that has bullets) and were able to find out it belonged to Malvo, the 17 year old "person of interest." After that, it was just police work. They managed to trace Malvo to Bellingham, WA, where they searched his high school for writing samples, and the searched the house in Tacoma, where Malvo and Williams/Muhammad lived at one time or another. So, let's not jump to conlcusions that terrorists had anything to do with this. I was watching Fox News Channel last night when I heard the stuff about "Camp Zero" and its alleged connection to Al Qaeda, and got a little excited about the possibilities. Last time I watch that particular "news channel" for info. I forgot that the people at "Fox" also brought us Alien Autopsy. Bottom line, let's hope that the killings are about to finally end.
True there may not a connection directly to Al Qaeda but again with the evidence that is currently being reported it cannot yet be ruled out. The mmost important part seems to be that indications are that all this may be over. Hopefully we can close this thread very soon and return to getting improvments for our home team DC United. I also think we should restart talks about taking up some form of a collection at Saturday's game for DC United to give to the family's of the victims.
Got Him! R it looks like they caught the damn sniper! that is the best news i have heard in weeks! this will just make our win on saturday that much sweeter (and our tailgate that much more fun) a great day for all of us. i hope everyone's kids feel safe again.
I believe there were certain elements of the media who were really hoping that this could be connected to Al Qaeda.

I really hate to be a contrarian, but does this thing about "a duck in a noose" worry anyone else? Either the guy is a complete nutcase, or that's meant to trigger something or someone else.
Yeah, I heard some pretty wild panic starting speculation this morning also. Panic inducing scenario #1: There's a shooting and the highways are shut down. With traffic backed up for miles, it's easy for dust cropping planes with Abdul at the helm to start dropping nerve gas on the public very easily. Panic inducing scenario #2: 10 different cities across the USA are hit by simultaneous sniper shootings. Cities are engulfed in chaos, etc. Yeah, not pretty, and completely uncalled for by our heroic media.
