First you must make sure your grades are in order. Second don't think about how much you may recieved because every school is different. Most freshman depending on the school may be looking at book money or a little more. my experince has been you will get more your second year on so on.stay in shape and continue to work hard

How about starting off by being really good at soccer? Grades in order, yes. Resume done? Sure. Get really good, and they will find you. Once they find you, if your grades, etc. are in order, then it could happen. If you are an academic and/or social liability, it will not. Pretty simple equation, but again, start off at being really, really good.

There are a number of written guides that can help you. The one I am most familiar with is:

the Official Athletic College Workbook: Soccer

You can order it online at: www.thesportsource.com

The Workbook is a clear, comprehensive booklet that has everything you need know and lots of good ideas that I hadn't thought of. I have used it with my own kids and highly recommend it.

One important piece of advice: START EARLY! You should read the Workbook during the student's sophmore year of high school or even earlier.

In response to this guy. this nine year old guy. even if you give or take a few years i'm still a 4th year junior soccer player and he'd probably meg me twice before i realized the first one was through. In response to seeing that little kid that good well...i quit. I'd rather just watch this kid and leBron.

First, a lot depends on your playing ability. If you can play, then you have a chip at the big table.

Now, you have to realize that a college team usually holds about 25 guys, but can only offer 9.9 scholarships.

How many of those 9.9 scholarships do you think will go to an incoming freshman and how many will go to a 4th year senior who is starting ??

You must expect that most teams will only have 2-4 scholarships for incoming freshman. Usually very well respected freshmen who have made a name for themselves somewhere.

To make a name for yourself, get on a top club team. One that travels to all the big tournaments. You need exposure to the college coaches.

Lastly, call and write the coaches. Submit a resume, video, and letters of recommondation from your club and high school coaches.

You may also go to the colleges summer camps during your high school sophomore and junior years.

What you need to do first is get your grades straight. Then you need to have a highlight tape to send to the respective coaches. And the key is to send emails like crazy, search for the college that best fits you and benefits you the most (money wise).
