Yeah with Wout Weghorst leading The way, both in height and impact.

Yikes what a shootout. Lionel owes Emiliano a VERY big favor.

And What a day! I’m OK with how it turned out between the two matches. If they can hold it together against Croatia they can finally deliver Messi to a WC final.

i get why eduteta didn't go for him - both stylistic fit and age-vs-length of contract - but there's always a part of me that wish they did last january.

Good day for Arsenal, they could give Martinelli a week off and still have him back for West Ham. Could be a good two days for Arsenal if France win tomorrow, with both Saka and Ramsdale are back for West Ham and while Saliba wouldn’t be available until after the last two days of the tournament, he has been training but not playing, so he could be available for West Ham too.

Brazil got problems. They don’t know what to do with an #8. Crazy that Bruno G didn’t come in today.

Also, Luka Modric is 37 years old and still dominating matches. I said Xavi is the GOAT midfielder but at 37, Xavi was in Saudi Arabia.

Argentina vs Netherlands was great. That set piece at the end was bonkers but I think Netherlands ran out of energy.

This match was funny tho because all of the Martinezes were trash today. Emi could have done better on that first goal and the shootouts saved his appeal but that dude is a trash keeper. No control of that area which lead to the craziness at the end of the regulation.

Lisandro Martinez was getting bodied when the Dutch went big.

And Laturo Martinez isn’t it and killer chances but he did nail the pen.

This was the best QF day I’ve seen.

that's a lot of nerve for messi and emi to be criticizing - however correct - the garbage referee when both should have been red carded, if the recap on the athletic is at all accurate.

    as should paredes have been.

Just saw the news this morning. Wow.

Though I'm old enough this isn't new, I'm young enough that everytime someone younger than me dies like this it indeed causes that moment of reflection. I'm at least happy to know he seemed like someone who lived the life he wanted, and flourished in the process. I always appreciated his contribution to soccer journalism (and soccer in general) in the States.

Man. RIP, sir, and thank you for supporting the beautiful game.

75’ Whoa what a stunning team move that was by Morocco on the counter. Too bad it wasn’t the dagger goal of the tournament.

If that Cheddira dude didn't totally suck they'd have beaten Spain by 2 and be up 2-0 now.

Ounahi takes a knee to his nuts, Earning a free kick, and Ally Wagner says “he’d gladly take that for the team“. Easy for her to say!

As bad as Cheddira is, that’s the softest sending off. If this ref was at Arg-Ned nobody would’ve been left to play

I certainly don’t revel in seeing CR7 bolting down the tunnel in tears at FT. It’s kinda sad. But it does occur to me that every other one of his teammates stayed on the pitch, sometimes to congratulate the other team or to console each other. Let’s just say that Cristiano seems to be long on selfishness and immaturity.

Two colonial masters down, one more to go. England controlled Tangiers for a time so it doesn’t matter who wins the other match today. Let’s go Morocco!!!!
