he nutmegged a goal and an assist in the Wcup KO, that's why he is GOAT and seriously we need to win Wcup for him; Scaloni and the players who lost it in the lost 20 mins have to get their brains right and checked for the two more matches
Like I keep saying he has got diego's soul now so he will do it by scoring or assisting just Scaloni or the team should not mess it up

This is what happened before Lautaro's pk. Now you don't have any question

Our team looks tame compare to their usual self since begining of this tournament but we suddenly played without fear in the extra time and maintain similar atittude throughout the shootout. Once again thanks to bias refereeing.

Netherlands might have awaken the beast inside us. I could see similar change in attitude like when Varzil won that semi in 2019. This could be the turning point for us aswell.

Remember when people were defending Paredes like he was an outstanding player. I told you guys that back in June and he proved it last night. You can't rely on him for shit, he will just ruin and lose his head which he does often than not. [IMG]

I feel that there is a big change in Messi after this game. 2 games away from big prize and Messi now will burn himself to win.

    being
Scaloni with his son was real emotion and passion that's what everyone plays for, just wondering why his son's no 10 shirt had his name instead of Messi or Diego hmmmm

Don't think anybody said that he was an outstanding player, but he still is a good player with strengths and weaknesses and worked really well with RDP and Lo Celso. Paredes contributes more to the team than Guido who you recommended. (Guido would have been perfect to bring on in the last 10 minutes though vs the Netherlands when Scaloni wanted to defend deep)

Again, you don't get how Scaloni likes to play defense, just as you don't get why Foyth is not starting ahead of Molina and Montiel.

Ok, I recovered emotionally from yesterday and now can think logically.

I liked Scaloni's 352, which matched well with the Netherland's 343 and we looked in control for the majority until Scaloni's subs, which could have lost us the game.

    - Paredes for RDP. RDP was great in this game and we needed to replace him with Palacios' intensity and energy. I would have also replaced MacA for Paredes (MacA was solid in this match) and still keep up the pressing and counter-pressing (Paredes had a terrible game though). My midfield for those subs would have been Palacios---Paredes---Enzo. Keep up the pressure and get that 3rd goal.

    - Tagliafico & Lautaro. I felt this was the sub that ultimately swung the tie to the Netherlands. Both of the were not intense and were slow. They were especially slow for the first goal of the Netherlands and should have reacted faster to prevent the cross from happening. Acuna was going to be suspended for the semi's. Why take him off? Lautaro still looks sluggish and we still needed speed so I would have gone with A. Correa

    - Pezzella. Romero was also having a great match, but Romero should have done better to not get a yellow in the first place. I think the yellow was the reason why Scaloni took him off, but really Romero was having a great match and you never ruin the flow of the match like that. After this match, I do not want to see Pezzella wearing the shirt again with the plethora of CBs rising up.

Keep in mind that the reason why we saw Paredes and Lautaro and probably again in next match is because they'd take the penalty in case it goes into penalties.

To bring them on to prepare for penalties is the wrong mentality to have. We were in control and had a great chance to win the match in regular time.

Yes but that's what Scaloni has been doing the whole tournament. Scores once or twice and then backpedalling right away. Had we continue to search for the third or fourth goal, we wouldnt be suffering.

We just invited the pressure. We got the result but Scaloni and company need to and will realize they made the wrong substitutions.

Will we ever see Correa for instance ? And as for the penalties I was surprised not to see Super Mac or Paulo brought in to take one. As I said before the game the Dutch would resort to this if losing and I would have hoped the coaching staff would have prepared.

You need to win the second ball and then have someone available to keep hold of the possession and launch a counter.

We had nine around the box and Messi all on his lonesome then with Lautaro but no one to win the second ball and give them the ball.

Thank god for the result, I was going to have a heart attack. The game had 3 parts:

Part 1: Argentina play 5-3-2 and control the game. The Dutch can’t produce anything on the wings and Argentina are compact in the middle. Messi plays deeper and his genius results in a goal. Argentina play the same way for most of the second half and score a PK while the Dutch create no chances.

Part 2: Argentina drop back, Dutch get desperate and score two.

Part 3: Argentina attack in ET and have a handful of good chances. Di Maria was instrumental in his 10 minute spell.

Pros are Argentina controlled the game when they wanted to, players overcame adversity, Messi is still a dominant player even though he’s past his prime, and the guys are very fired up and motivated to win the tournament. Di Maria was also great in his short spell, and Lautaro had a nice shot at the end which will hopefully help his confidence.

Cons: For the second time this WC, a very brief period of madness saw Argentina concede 2 goals. Against Saudi, we conceded 2 in 8 minutes and yesterday saw 2 in about 20 minutes. This is inexcusable and is usually enough to get a team knocked out. Argentina can’t afford to do this again and need to work on bunkering down. I also don’t know how the entire team including Messi and Scaloni lost their composure. The ref wasn’t good but the leaders of the team set the tone and need to keep an even keel.

I’m obviously thrilled we’re in the semis and are 2 games away from our goal.
