I'm not sure if it's appropriate, but I'd like to mention the word 투혼 in the context of this resurrection from the dead. We just wouldn't give up. Korea should copy us: no dependence on one style of football. Just fight, and be defiant, doing whatever works. When things got tough, our manager pulled off a small striker and put on a slow, lumbering guy. When we conceded, he put in another big tower. You have CGS for this "aerial offensive". But yeah. Mislav Oršić brought some of that 투혼 into the game. The zombies shuffle forth, having devoured a big yellow-blue entertainer. With a bit of fresh energy (give Oršić more playing time), the last 2 games could be Train to Busan.
A CDM should be physically strong. Give KNT a Brozović, and big things will happen. You already have Son, who is a bit like Perišić in his hard work and two-footedness. I'm hoping KFA take a Croatian manager. Flexibility in style is Croatia's best weapon, if we're looking at tactics. Regarding Croatia's mentality, it was built one game at a time. The win over Portugal, when a win was necessary, could be the seed of a strong plant with sturdy roots. A plant of belief in Korean spirit.
Wholeheartedly agreed. If you're Guardiola's Man City, sure you can play one style. But the KNT doesn't have that luxury. I really want to see an experienced, pragmatic, and tactically versatile manager as Bento's successor.
Not even Guardiola had eternal success with tiki-taka. Spain's overreliance on it sent them home after a warning shot by Japan. Croatia actually use possession as a defensive weapon. When they had to attack, Dalić had used 2 battering rams up front. A low defensive block is what Korea needs to be able to do. One key piece of it already exists: the Monster. A better LB, and a CDM could enable a frustrating block that enables Korea's best players to counter the sh*t out of everyone. Croatia don't even play their 2. real winger (Oršić) enough.
Someone might pop up, like CGS has. Perhaps the new manager will convert a striker into a wing back. It's a common "maneuver" in football, and 차두리 himself was converted in this fashion.
I am a bit skeptical about CGS. Let's see if he can still shine even in Europe. Too many players turned out to be shit even though many ppl had high hopes for them. Don't want to be disappointed again.
Korea's biggest weakness is naivety. Hiddink said it over and over again and people thought it was a mild praise. Koreans are also too easily impressed by little circus. After losing to Germany in 2002 Hiddink said that Korea had too much respect for Germany as the main reason they lost. Not sure by that he meant Korea were too nice or Korea were intimidated. Probably both. Korean soccer is like a country girl who came to Seoul in the 50's and 60's. She is impressed by the stupidest and the most absurd things like a boy sticking his bubblegum underneath a desk. Koreans have had a series of inferiority complex. During the 60's it was Koreans' diminutive size that was listed as the soccer-poor reason. After they grew in size now it was the short legs in relation to the whole body. After they improved physical proportion now it was non-fluidity, lack of flexibility of their joints and limbs. Absence of grass playing fields was also cited as the reason. Which they solved and after which nothing changed. For Korea to be a world class soccer power, Koreans need to have hatred of the world. They deserve to hate the world but they can't because they are 국제호구, too guilt ridden for things they never did. The most important improvement Japan have had in the past 10 years is that now they know how to foul. Japan know how to take advantage of the common misconception in the west that Japanese are honest and hard working people with high standards of sportsmanship. Now Japan foul physically larger and more powerful opponents with impunity under FIFA's blessing. They foul more than their opponents do in almost every match and get fewer yellow cards. They know how to foul or more likely FIFA is very lenient on them. Japanese are now roughing up even Europeans. It will be nice to have Brazilians' individual skills. It will be nice to have imposing physical dimensions of Northern Europeans. It will be nice to have physical abilities of Africans. But they are not all that necessary to be a great soccer power. They are illusions much like a Korean country girl feels inferior because she does not know how to stick bubblegum under a desk. It is not the route I would want to see Korea take but if winning is all that matters, learn, from South Americans, the dark art of dirty play. Oh wait now we have someone better. Learn from Japanese. They even manage to maintain the clean image because they reserve their truly bad sportsmanship only against Koreans and pre-emptively accuse Koreans of rough and violent play.
Argentina dirty cheating arrogant no shame has absolutely paid ($$$) up this WC along with AFA. The ref has been in their pockets since game 1. Their diving and cheating antics are disgustingly disgusting and despicable. Just imagine how many tonnes of peasant pesos they had to dish up.
It will be funny if Croatia win it all with 4 PK shootouts. We don't have anything against Croatia but all other countries have something we don't like. One negativity with Croatian success is that Japan may claim that they could have become World Champions as well.
Croatia was a finalist in the previous WC and I think most soccer followers generally acknowledge them as amongst the best footballing countries.
I'm aware of the lack of good terms between the two countries but your criticism of the Japanese is getting out of bounds. Hands down they are objectively the best in the afc. As for everything else, Japan is held in high regard in the international community, have good work ethics and intelligence, probably have more beautiful, albeit subjective, people, and is a powerhouse in many fields.
Don't bother. He drank too much 국뽕 so he thinks Korea is the best and can't accept the fact that Japan is better.
I'm happy to see the dancing buffoon Brazilians cry after crapping their pants in the PK shootout. Go dance some more in the filthy stinky favelas you inbred mongrels.
Fector is correct in that we should have used defensive tactics against Brazil and then use other tactics as needed.
Is your great grandpa's name Yi Wanyong? I now remember why the old BSKorea members shunned you. Japan's playing rough with Korea is not a new problem. More than a few Korean soccer analysts have noticed it. Korean players are super naïve and some of them actually blame themselves or their antecedents for it. They don't know it is a very calculated act with no moral basis. P.S. The greatest poster in Bigsoccer history that some people confuse with this guy would have ridiculed the grammatical error. It should be "albeit subjectively". The pomposity in his writing style is downright criminal.
You're only able to say this because you now know the result. The scoreline would have been similar anyway. The knt defense has a habit of giving away easy goals, via defensive errors, free/corner kicks, or pk's. And they would have to withstand the constant attacks from not just any team but Brazil. And then what would they do after they concede a goal? Start playing offensive football then?
